Beauty is in the eye of beholder. But I find the new Accord very nicely proportioned and good looking. Hope to see Honda introducing the car here. Don't know if it'll sell in India though.

re: Rumour: Honda India to reintroduce the Accord in 2015. EDIT: Coming in 2016

This video for the Accord (Spirior in China) gives us a look at many of the cutting edge features being included. How many of these will make their way to the Indian edition ?

I love the look of the car.

Noticed the following features:

1. Keyless entry featuring Honda's tech, insert finger in space behind the door handle to unlock the car with key in pocket.
2. The touchscreen as a mode where it mirrors the phone.
3. Their appear to be cameras in the ORVMS ?!
4. Engine auto cut and auto start
5. HUD which shows - collision warning, lane deviation, speed, navigation and speed limits

Spirior? What's that? Honda has any patent issues with word "Accord" in China?

Beautiful car and a nice ad too - highlighting all the modern features of the car. Highly doubtful of the features among this, that will make it to India. IMO, most of them won't - especially the warning systems telling the distance between the cars and the lane watcher, which if present, will be a constant irritant to Indian drivers.

Honda can bring many and most of these features actually as they have the pricing space. The entry Germans have moved to 40+ lakh segment. Accord with almost all these features can ring bells in the very high twenties. Now it could actually compete with the Superb on features.

This was my thought exactly. With a feature set like this it could compete with the Superb and maybe the new Passat. This segment is starved for options with the just Camry, Passat and Superb competing for the attention of buyers who don't want to cross the very early 30s (lakhs) and ideally want to play in the mid to late 20s.

I agree that lane deviation would be a pain in India and a silly feature; we need lane markers to be ubiquitous first !

Agree on that point, the offerings in the range of 20 to 40 Lakh have either disappeared or have become stale. Last gen Accord and Sonata are gone with the Camry and Superb the only luxary options left. Given the Germans are proceeding north with the pricing and also introducing options for the rich and young in the country. Accord should provide much needed options in the price range but it has to compete with the strong and limited SUV barrages in the price range and the 'I need an SUV' mentality as well. A good diesal offering along with a petrol should do the trick.

Honda has said that it is planning to get the new version of its Accord premium luxury sedan to India in 2016. In addition, a hybrid version of the sedan might make its way here after the launch of the 2.4-litre petrol

But with the Jazz arriving this July and completing Honda’s mass-volume portfolio, the Japanese carmaker can concentrate on bringing its big luxury offering - which is important from a brand and image perspective - back. It is likely that Honda will launch the facelifted version of the new Accord in India, since it is due for its global mid-life update next year

Oh man, what happened with the front grill . It was so nice and classy earlier. This one looks like a plug-in electric model. I hope they do introduce it with proper design change. :dead horse.

The problem with the new accord is that it looks old already !! I don't see any reason why this is a newer generation car and the worse part is that it will come to India in its 3-4th year of product lifecycle. The new Accord was launched sometime in 2013 in Thailand.

They should launch this here and the hybrid ASAP, to give competition to the Camry.

But i really think they should plonk the twin turbo variant of the 1.6 iDtec in the CRV and Accord, since Toyota is highly unlikely to bring even the last gen 2.0, 2.2 AD diesel engines anytime soon.

re: Rumour: Honda India to reintroduce the Accord in 2015. EDIT: Coming in 2016

The Accord was introduced internationally in 2013, and by the time it is introduced in India it'll already be a 3 year old design. Honda must launch the 2016 model in India.

Also, here is the Accord sold in the middle east

A bit too much chrome IMO, but it should be a hit with us chrome crazy Indians.

The V6 engine was the factor that distinguished the Accord from other cars in the segment, and I really hope Honda brings it here.

With cars like the Amaze/Mobilio, Honda is slowly losing that premium halo around itself. Now that they have established themselves in the high volume segments, they should turn their attention toward the premium segment.

Also where is the new CR-V, Honda India?

Doesn't Honda have like an all new 1.6 litre 160 bhp diesel in Europe? And a 9 speed dual clutch transmission ? What exactly is stopping them from releasing the accord, crv and the civic with this drivetrain here in India ? It's enough to wipe the floor with vw , skoda and Toyota at the same time. I would prefer them giving us these premium trio rather than making mobilio.:banghead:

The Accord gets a new 60/40 split and folding rear seat, heated rear seats, front and rear parking sensors and new rain-sensing windshield wipers. The car can be equipped with Honda Sensing, safety and driver-assistive technologies. These includes a Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). Other features include a multi-angle rear view camera, expanded view driver's mirror, new auto high-beam headlights, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto HondaLink Assist (e911) and HD radio.

The Accord will continue to be offered with two petrol engines - 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder i-VTEC and 3.5-litre, V-6 VTEC. For India, Honda is expected to use the 2.4-litre unit and a hybrid power plant might follow.

Re: Rumour: Honda India to reintroduce the Accord in 2015. EDIT: Coming in 2016

Not a fan of the City-esque chrome grille, but the alloys and LED lights look yummy

The Camry has been selling as much as the mighty Superb, despite the absence of a diesel engine. This goes on to show that the market has matured and hybrids are gaining relevance, at least in the premium segment. The Accord hybrid should be cheaper than an equivalent Camry (if history is anything to go by) and will do well IMO.

Honda is slowly losing that premium aura around itself, so they should get the Accord here ASAP in the petrol and hybrid versions. And also the V6 please!
