Re: Rumour: Honda India to reintroduce the Accord in 2015. EDIT: Coming in 2016

Looks a bit dated imho !
I don't see this outselling a Camry and the only chance it has if its introduced at a price tag of Rs. 25 L. At 35, one has too many options and its also too close to the Audis. The A6 can be bought for 45L on road (after discounts) and then you have the Q3, A3, Q5 (Discounted), A4.

The 2l hybrid Accord should be introduced in India ASAP. The 2L is sporty enough in non-Hybrid guise IMO.

they have launched the Civic in Philippines... plz bring the 1.5L turbo petrol & 1.6l iDtec Civic for us as well.

I fail to understand why Honda is not bringing these to India soon. Also, why are they not bringing in the diesel versions which they have in EU already.
Same goes for Toyota. In spite of having diesel versions in EU for Camry (aka Avensis, which is a tweaked brother of Camry), they show up here in petrol versions only.

And now, the Delhi ruling about suspending sales of cars with 2l+ engines will only make manufacturers without one very hesitant to even encourage such a thought.

You are right. Honda has a 2.2 diesel for the accord in some markets. So, they will be at a disadvantage.

An SOHC mill with an old-school 5 speed tranny? Seems an anachronism in this age of high-tech. Unless I am missing something.

The interiors look properly refurbished though.

This is just sad! 174 bhp from a 2.4 in this day and age is just not done when competition is generating 200 horses or more from a 1.6 mill. They gave a modern 1.5l direct injection turbo petrol in the civic. I wonder why the Accord is getting such step motherly treatment. They should launch this car with a 1.6 or 1.8 turbo. Also a 5 speed torque convertor in a premium car? They seriously are joking right!

Re: Rumour: Honda India to reintroduce the Accord in 2015. EDIT: Coming in 2016

I am not sure why the 5AT is being mentioned as an option. AFAIK, there is no 5AT in the list of transmissions offered in Accord. There is a 6MT, CVT and a 6AT for the normal Accord while a CVT does the duty in the Hybrid version.

I have driven the previous gen Accord back in the States and it is one of the smoothest vehicles around. And the Japs though generally underwhelming with the numbers, do get most of the things right in a car including driving experience for the Average joe around the world.

Its handling is also considered better than Camry for a big family car. 174BHP is still a lot for the roads in our country

Re: Rumour: Honda India to reintroduce the Accord in 2015. EDIT: Coming in 2016

I did see a 2016 Model Honda Accord last night at Gurgaon (Exit 8 Petrol Pump). Couldn't get anything more than a tad glimpse as I was entering the gas station and the Accord was exiting. It wore a UP Number plate and was in the glorious White colour.

Re: Rumour: Honda India to reintroduce the Accord in 2015. EDIT: Coming in 2016

Bookings for the Accord have started at dealerships with 2 lacs booking. Car will be delivered in September or October. Expected price is 40 - 45 lacs.

I told the sales guy that someone in Noida is smoking something very strong to launch the car at that price and expect it to sell. He told me the car is a direct import from Japan so therefore the price.

In my opinion its ruining the brand Accord and what a waste from Honda. Terrible price.

If this price holds, the Accord will be on life support the moment it arrives. Regardless of how good the product might be, there'll be very, very, very few who'd pay that amount for an Accord! Even the 3 series can't sell at that price!

A bunch of auto blogs are posting this news with an expected price of 22-30 lakhs (a direct currency conversion from the Thai price).

The Accord is actually a very good, capable car and it'd be a pity if Honda damages that brand with such pricing. Worse, this perception of being unnecessarily over priced might affect the Civic, if it ever comes back.

Re: Rumour: Honda India to reintroduce the Accord in 2015. EDIT: Coming in 2016

The Superb diesel costs 36 lakhs OTR Mumbai, while the Camry Hybrid comes for 38 lakhs. Hence I expect the on road price of the Accord to be around 36-38 lakhs. That would be decent pricing, considering the fact that it's going to be a CBU.

So i have the official teaser brochure form Honda. The price is expected between 37-40 lacs ex factory so i feel 40-45 will be the on road price. I would love for it to come between 22-30 but it looks doubtful, even my Honda dealer who is accepting bookings for the car has confirmed the price range. It is a bit of a downer.

Just FYI: Superb diesel is 38 lacs L&K on road mumbai, Camry is 40 lacs on road mumbai.
