Interesting. How does the 1.5 iDTEC compare in regard to this parameter?

200NM @ 1750 RPM.

However, it's an extremely mediocre engine and I did not want to mention it in the same breath as the fantastic 1.5L engines from Ford and Maruti, and hopefully now, Tata!

Done with the presentation. No price reveal and no news about automatics. They had to re iterate the few points over and over. Pretty poor presentation IMO. Had a big name to it as 'the gold standard' but does it really stand before the upcoming i20 facelift?

I liked the car in red rather than gold. My preference would be Red followed by white and then gold in this car. Should've given sparking blue as well. Tata never gets the colors right which I can never fathom. Why that grey option it wouldn't enhance the design at all.

re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, the Altroz. Edit: Launched at 5.29 lakh.

Apart from the design, there is nothing that is groundbreaking in this car. Sadly, the car is not even feature loaded as much. Even if they price it right, say less then the upcoming i20, TATA will surely find it difficult to sway the buyers in their direction. Having said that, it still looks to be a pretty decent package overall; ofcourse assuming that the ride and handling will be by 'TATA' standards (which has always seen an improving trend). Nevertheless, the wait now begins for the official Team-BHP review for the final word!

re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, the Altroz. Edit: Launched at 5.29 lakh.

So, Tata hasn’t learned their lesson with the harrier. Still no automatic at launch, weak petrol and the Turbo-petrol isn’t available at launch.

Given the delay in the launch of the Altroz, they should atleast have readied an automatic by now. It will be outclassed very soon by the next gen i20!

re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, the Altroz. Edit: Launched at 5.29 lakh.

Still struggling to understand who is this targeted at. Just looks alone (which I don't like) can't be a differentiation. Nexon had a pair of powerful engines and segment first drive modes. Now the Altroz doesn't even try to match what's already available in the segment. Hopefully the Altroz makes up with a superior drive and comfortable seats (which is usually the case with Tata).

It is the widest car in the segment. Hope it will be able to seat 3 adults comfortably in the rear seat unlike nexon. They missed the opportunity to introduce 3 point seat belts for all the three in the rear (which Mahindra did with XUV300)

Is it only me who feels that their design thinking was a lot influenced or inspired by Honda cars, especially Jazz.

re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, the Altroz. Edit: Launched at 5.29 lakh.

If someone ask me “would you like to buy this car?” My answer will be a definite “Yes”.

For reasons, it is from brand “TATA” and it has to be a structurally safe car! A solid and safe car is my first priority. Add to that, oodles of space and adequate creature comforts. Offered engines are proven and enough to pull the intended load comfortably.

Looks refreshing with functional interior, harman kardon sound system is a definite plus. As a whole, good package with expected affordable price tag !

If I want to be nitpicky, say exterior may be little overdesigned to my taste !

Guess what, will people still not like Tata Altroz? But as usual Tata is late and keeping things for later stages.

Hormazd has posted an update from Mayank Pareek on the auto. Apparently Altroz will get a double clutch gearbox and not AMT.

re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, the Altroz. Edit: Launched at 5.29 lakh.

The "Gold Standard" Claim of Tata vanished too soon.
The car looks well put together in fit and finish.
As of now it looks like Altroz has wider footprint and this may help in ride quality. Fuel tank of 37 liter is to liberate 300+ liters of boot space. Rear wheel arches protrude a bit more in boot. Rear AC vent, armrest is positive

At later stage i will have few more cars to choose from as well, just adding premium would not make people wait. Tata should really get it's act together, you are not the only player in this industry.

Guys what was that circular kink on the bottom side of mirrors? It was there during Geneva reveal.
