We owned this car from 1994 to 1999 or so. KA-01, M-431 owned by my dad. I learnt driving on this car - it had the gear by the side of the steering wheel (old gear format).

It had a radiator failure on a long distance trip and starting trouble requiring to push on many occasions. There was a joke in Bangalore that most of the cars broken on the road would be Fiat Premier Padminis. Never was a broken 800 found

The Fiat brand name will be discontinued.

Not sure as to where you are getting this information from. As per multiple reports from auto journals and even during interviews with Fiat india honchos, there has been no mention of Dodge ever. The current situation is just wait and watch for Fiat. They will stick with the Compass for 2018 and may launch the India specific Renegade in 2019, if all things like pricing and economies of scale work out. That is about it.

Unless you have some reliable source of information, I do not think your info is right at all.

I am not saying that the Dodge is being launched. Just that it is on the radar.

Couple of things:

1. Dart is a failure in USA
2. Dodge brand itself is in jeopardy with no new models. Not sure FCA would want to expand this brand internationally. FCA is solely dependent on Jeep to make money and change its fortune.

Fiat today unveiled the first official images of Cronos, its new compact sedan.

^^ That's in Brazil. Don't think it will come to India.

Can't you see the writing on the wall, FIAT in India is done and dusted and is being slowly and silently being "replaced" by Jeep!

A very good looking design, I would say! Would surely do well in Asian and other developing markets if launched with the right engines and competitive pricing. With regard to it being launched in India, I think it is not even being considered! It is only the Jeep Compass for now and probably a heavily localised Renegade in 2019 ( as long as they can also export the same to other RHD markets).

Re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

Fiat releases the first pictures of the interiors of Cronos.

And as expected, virtually the entire cabin of the new Fiat Cronos will be identical to the Argo hatch.

Swap the badges and it could easily pass for a KIA.

Design identities have become 'fluid', just like those fancy design language names companies use. Unique is passe.
