FWIW, a search of "Fortuner 2016" in Google has Endeavour as the first link. May be this is geography (India) specific, but, Ford would have had to buy that adword in order to make it happen.

New Toyota Fortuners spotted at Barauni zero mile, Bihar. I believe they are shipped to dealers and maybe these are the TD vehicles.

The DRL's were very bright and can be spotted from some distance away.

Spotted at a Toyota dealership, ahead of it's November 7th launch, by an IAB reader.

The White 2016 Fortuner seen in these images sports the numeral ‘4’ on its bootlid, suggesting that it could be powered by the 2.4-liter GD diesel engine which makes 149 PS and 343 Nm of torque. This engine option would be available only with a manual gearbox on the Fortuner.

WOW ! What logic by IAB, If its '4' then 2.4 clap: lol:

4 means Sigma 4WD variant (Toyota's new terminology for 4WD system)

The above variant spotted is the 2.8L 4x4 A/T.

Spent some time in the all new Fortuner today;

- The model was 2.8 Diesel 4x4 A/T
- Sadly, Rear Diff lock eliminated in the Indian version
- Tyres were Bridgestone Dueler H/T (265/60 R18)
- The wheel design which i was initally not a fan of, actually look better in real.
- Interiors Finally felt premium, specially the leather top dashboard.
- At idle the 2.8L felt quieter than the outgoing 3L D-4D
- Paddle shifters felt nice to operate
- Also flashed the LED headlamps, a welcome feature :thumbs up
- Looking at the car from the front i have a feeling that the 'approach angle' is now slighly improved.
- Leather seats were Dark Brown (look almost black in dark), but i prefer the fawn colour (camel brown) which is offered in the Australian version.
- Electric tailgate is fun to operate
- Lastly the utilitarian feel of cabin is now gone (Some people may miss it though), BUT the all new version is OLD SCHOOL enough for the Fortuner fans:)

Really, that's it Karan??
I refreshed new threads on TBHP and your youtube channel more than a couple of times :D
Where is the report?
Cheers,
Deepak

PS: Ah, i see some info on your post now. Thanks!

Good that some features are coming in with the expected 40 Lakhs on road price tag.

In the picture quoted, the small stalk below the steering looks like the cruise control one. Is that right?. If yes, does that foul with the knee as it looks pretty close the knee there.

Yes that small stalk is for the Cruise Control, though from the pictures it looks to foul or brush with the knee but it doesnt :thumbs up

After following Fortuner and Endeavour's Australian reviews I would say it (Rear Diff Lock) won't/shouldn't be missed because:

-- When you engage Rear Diff Lock it cancel's ATC on the front axle in Fortuner and not in Endeavour

-- And the ATC on Fortuner is so beautifully calibrated that vehicles (Both Fortuner & Hilux) when Rear Diff Lock was engaged they actually cleared the obstacles with difficulty than vehicles which did not lock the rear diff

Hope it helps.

Nevertheless a feature (Rear Diff Lock) will be missed at least in theory and owners might feel short changed.

Karan what about Rear Disc Brakes? Do all Fortuner models get it now in India?

The Ford seems to be more capable off-roader overall.

With the recent price cut, the 3.2 4X4 AT Trend starts to look really appealing. It has almost all of-road features of the Titanium version and available at 32.25 Lakhs on-road Chennai (Almost 5 lakhs cheaper than Titanium and if predictions are to be believed, will be substantially cheaper than Fortuner as well). The SA is hinting at possible year end discounts as well. Might be a good idea to wait and watch how this plays out.

Great points, i agree & you're right the A-TRAC works better than the rear diff locks do.

  • Higher power and torque from engine (200 PS and 500 NM)
  • Rear differential lock
  • Multiple terrain modes (Sand, Rock, Snow etc)
  • Watts Linkage
  • 800 mm water wading capability

Great points, i'd pick the Endeavour myself if the 3.2 was available in a Manual Transmission.

Also a small correction the torque rating is 470 NM & not 500 NM :thumbs up

Toyota continues teasing the 2016 Fortuner ahead of November 7 launch.

Some other points;

- Total of 6 variants coming: 4x2 Petrol Manual, 4x2 Petrol Auto. 4x2 Diesel Manual, 4x2 Diesel Auto, 4x4 Diesel Manual, 4x4 Diesel Auto
- All 4x2 variants have 17"ers
- Shockingly the 4x2 have A/T tyres & the 4x4 had H/T tyres (What was Toyota thinking ?) lol:
- 2.4L Diesel is not coming
- The Electric Tailgate has memory function

Did you get a chance to drive as well? :) What will be your take? Endeavour or Fortuner if prices and resale is not a concern.
