re: 2017 Skoda Octavia facelift spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 15.49 lakh

Super pricing I think!! The base variants are a little less on equipment but the mid and top are loaded and no short on equipment than a 3 series/A4/C-class with a build quality to match.
Good to see both the petrol engines continued and the mid variant has option of both, but I would still have loved to see an MT 1.8 version!! IMHO, the top 1.8 TSI is the best bang for buck and with the 4 year warranty, gives the peace of mind too. And the diesel-petrol price difference is 2 or even 3 lacs in some variants, really puts it on the backfoot.

Skoda India has launched the updated Octavia at a starting price of Rs 15.49 lakh. The top-end diesel is priced at Rs 22.89 lakh, ex-showroom pan India. While the starting price is approximately Rs 7,000 less than the outgoing car, the higher-spec models are priced a bit higher.

There are three engine and transmission options as well as eight trims to choose from - Ambition, Style and Style Plus.

So what does that translate into ON-Road prices? With the additional road tax in Maharashtra, I am assuming the 1.8 TSI style plus might be around 27L'ish?

re: 2017 Skoda Octavia facelift spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 15.49 lakh

Good pricing, i regularly drive a friend's 1.8 TSI and it is a superb machine. I might as well plan to pick the top end 1.8 TSi, if not for the looming vRS launch.

Would be interesting to see how the vRS version is going to be priced.

Are there any firm commitments from Skoda about the vRS launch? I did not see the Octavia unveiling today.

Just checked the features on the base 1.4 TSi Petrol, it's pretty much loaded to the hilt! Traction control, Alloys and Climate control and 4 air bags! The on road price for this works up to 19L in Bangalore and it seems like a fantastic value for money proposition, especially when you consider that similarly loaded C segment sedans are in the range of 14 L!

So anyone buying the petrol Audi A4 will spend 10 lakhs more and get smoked by the 1.8 TSI Octavia!

And the vRS is yet to be launched!

Totally agree! Considering far less engineered and tested vehicles are being sold for the same rate in our overpriced market.

If I was in the market for a relatively 'cheap' D segment car, I would jump for it.

Just can't digest that face. Looks as if it's designed by a 5th grader who is fascinated by shapes.

Other than that it's a good car with a stonking 1.8L turbo petrol engine which is great news in these times of downsizing. Good going Skoda! Just fire the lad(s) who designed the face, that's all..

Nothing on paper, but a lot of publications have been writing about the same. One of the leading publication even had it communicated in the youtube video while doing a quick review of the new octavia, i will search that video and post it later.

Really? I like the new face. Subtle LED signature touches without going into complex shapes.

Re: Skoda Octavia facelift launched at Rs. 15.49 lakh

Looks like the Style Plus variant would be the only one getting 6-8 airbags which is not clearly specified on the spec page yet. The other variants will have to make do with 2.
Also the the cut design for the lights is pretty cool. Yes it will divide opinion, but definitely not a deal breaker IMO.

From what I saw on the brochure, its 4 airbags for the base, 6 for the Style variant and 8 for the Style Plus.

I find the style variant excellent value for what it offers.
