You gave words to my fear .That is what I always keep looking for in interior pics. I hope it is part time 4WD with electronic shift similar to Endeavour / Fortuner, but I have not spotted any yet.

Hello bhpians.

Here is some latest info on the all new Scorpio.

1. Mahindra has recently internally conducted a crash test of the Scorpio and it has scored 4 stars comfortably. They will be aiming for 5 stars at the NCAP but that's going to be easier said than done.

2. According to my sources the Scorpio will do 80% of all the things that the XUV700 can do at around a couple of lakhs lesser price. The only area where it will be head and shoulders above the XUV700 will be in its off road capabilities.

3. As of now the Scorpio has been tested for a cumulative 8 million kms on our roads and the testing is still going on as the launch is still atleast 6 months away.

4. According to my sources the all new Scorpio will get a similar Sony sound system as the XUV700 but the speaker count will be less at around 6 to 8 speakers.

5. People who bought the current gen as well as previous gen Scorpios for their butch looks may be slightly disappointed by the appearance of the new gen Scorpio as it is said to have slightly lesser rugged appearance.

6. Mahindra is targeting a starting price of 9.99 lakh for the new Scorpio and this will really disrupt the mid size SUV/Crossover segment.

7. Mahindra is ready with the first prototypes of hybrid Scorpio but the launch is still atleast a couple of years away.

Pretty excited, since this means a decently specced diesel manual variant for under 15 lakhs OTR.

Very good to know! No more ridicules from people that always said "What is the big deal in driving a big SUV that won't take care of you?"

In my opinion, the butch factor already toned down when M&M introduced the second gen, but over time, I actually started developing a liking towards it.
Nevertheless, my liking for the previous gen's curves still has the same degree! Just look at this!

The front with that slightly-more-curvy-than-before looks so matured.
Several reports contemplated that the new Scorpio is going to grow bigger in size, which I am unfortunately unable to see in the pictures.

One major change I however notice is the change in the angulation of the rear windshield. The older gen SUV almost had it straight and the new one has a decline towards the bottom.
It only appears to me as if the knee room has been compromised in the 3rd row (for the 3rd row bench seat) - not that it was great before. I so wish it is otherwise, where "the 3rd row seat is kept as it is, but more boot space is added".

Those headlights resemble the ones on Brezza. Similar rounded and dual barrel design.

And that rear wiper barely cleans a quarter of the rear glass. It definitely needs a longer back sweep.

It is such a superb but confusing time for an SUV Car buyer. If you are willing to wait for 3-4 months, you will be spoiled with a couple of more options up your ally:

1. You can go for a micro-SUV with Ignis + Espresso + Punch competition
2. You can opt for a sub-4 meter with the competition at its peak.
3. Go for a segment above and the latest German launches + Korean twins make for a wonderful competitive bench. MG Astor & Scorpio just makes for an amazing new entry in the segment!
4. Go a tiny step up & the Hector, Harrier, XUV make for a classic competitive bench.

Phew - Good luck with sweating your mind out on what to select from!
