I own a Xylo E9 and I absolutely had the same feeling looking at the tumbled second row and the third tow seat pics…

Unlike how tbhp members comments and actual 7OO in skin changed people’s opinion…i hope the Scorpio-N does the same thing when it arrives…

The rear - yes, may be. For all other areas shown in the pics, please don't compare. It is far far better than the ugly creature called Xylo.

Xylo's rear was the only area that was not bad compared to other areas of its design. The Scorpio rear is the only bad-looking area in its design, IMO. That says a lot about Xylo's design. The more I look at it, the more I hate Xylo. But the more I look at this Scorpio, the more I like it.

There is an uncanny resemblence for roof rails also.

While the looks are subjective,I almost bought Xylo for its utility and space a decade ago.

I agree that XUV 700 was also unimpressive to look at initially, but it ended up in my garage because these designs slowly grow on you.

It's difficult to believe, although Mahindra does have a reputation for doing incredible launch prices. But if this really happens, it'll pull a rug from underneath all the 3 row vans in the market. Bring it on Mahindra!

Rs. 10 Lacs pricing figure is ridiculous. Current Scorpio S3+ Ex-Showroom is Rs 13.30 Lacs in Mumbai. Current 7 seater Diesel XUV700 AX3 D MT is Rs 16.53 Lacs Ex-Showroom in Mumbai. My guess is Mahindra will slot this in between existing Scorpio and XUV700 and considering safety enhancements and some raw materials inflation, will price it at Rs 14.99 Lacs (average of Rs 13.30 Lacs and Rs 16.53 Lacs is 14.91 Lacs). Of course, there may be usual introductory pricing of Rs 14.49 Lacs (or Rs. 13.99 Lacs) for the first 10,000 bookings to create hype. Still at Rs. 14.99 Lacs or lower sticker price, it will get booked like hot cakes. Delivery execution would be the key though. Lets see if Mahindra can pull this off.

I think there will be MX and AX type of differentiation for Scorpio and I will not be surprised if MX base variant is 10.49 and 10.99 lacs introductory price.Let us not forget that starting launch price for base xuv700 undercuts xuv500 base.

Base XUV500 which is a 7 seater can't be compared with Base XUV700 which is a 5 seater. If you must, compare base XUV500 with XUV700 X3 D MT and you will see there is no undercutting of prices.

I am not sure if our comparison should be based on extra row of seats or actual dimensions of the car which remains identical for all the variants of xuv700.

That's exactly the point. Scorpio and XUV are different vehicles. XUV500 and XUV700 are also different vehicles. If one must compare, we should apply Ceteris Paribus principle and attempt one. Not that base variant of one undercuts base variant of other just because one doesn't have third row of seats.

And lower the introductory price, higher will be the volume of bookings like it was the case ever since XUV5OO was launched a decade ago. And then we will have delivery issues even though price will be jacked up in a week's time. Mahindra already got its hype of "Fasted SUV to cross 1 Lac bookings with XUV700". Lets hope this time they have some method behind the madness and keep it simple, just the way Scorpio is meant to be, a rugged abuse friendly SUV who does its job most of time.

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Xuv700 is not developed from scratch and has underpinnings of xuv500. XUV500 was getting converted from gen1 to gen2 to gen3 in the aftermarket. Yesterday I saw someone offering xuv700 grill for xuv 500. So this saga continues.

Since scorpion is positioned somewhere between scorpio and xuv700, I still feel it makes sense to be introduced at very competitive price. Anything above 12 lacs will make the buyer swing towards age old tried and tested Scorpio or far more feature rich and plush Xuv700

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

As rumours and spy pictures showed us that scorpio N is getting a wider 245 section tyres on 17 or 18 inch wheels. Wondering if the the 4X4 will be launched with AT tyres (considering the 4X4 version will make a really small portion of the sales I highly doubt it’ll be the case)

But, as a potential 4wd buyer, I am concerned that a 245/65 R17 tyre is a new configuration in the market.

I’m sure many manufacturers will eventually have this tyre size. But will there be any tyre upgrades available from tyre companies at the launch of the car. I’m strictly talking about those people who don’t want to put oversized tyres on there vehicles and stick to the oem size.

Mahindra could have gone for a more traditional tyre size like they did with the XUV 700 or the Mahindra Thar.

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Mahindra thinktank is definitely pushing for a starting price of around ~11 lakhs for the base variant of the Scorpio-N. I am hearing 10.99L for the petrol base, barebones variant and 11.49L for the 130PS diesel base, barebones variant.

For the 160PS diesel base variant though, pricing will be higher at 14.99L. The similarly specced and loaded petrol variant should be near the 14.49L mark.

Mahindra is expecting more sales of the diesel (as expected) so diesel variants will be priced very competitively, vis-a-vis ~1 lakh over the equivalent current-gen Scorpio's prices. Seating configurations will see a price difference of around 75,000 between the 6 seaters and the 7 seaters.

Thanks to a birdie. This is unverified for now.

Re: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio | Now revealed as Scorpio-N

Having signed up for updates on the website, I received a call from Mahindra executive yesterday. He spoke pleasantly, thanked me for my interest in the ScorpioN and asked me how / why I am interested in this car.
On knowing that my current ride is a 2010 Scorpio, he was elated, thanked me again for being a loyal Mahindra customer and went on to explain a few things about the new ScorpioN (which I already knew - from this forum).

"The Big Daddy", as Mahindra is calling it, is coming in both Petrol/Diesel engines, will be available in both Manual/Automatic transmissions. He also added, "This is a rugged Body-on-Frame Rear-Wheel-Drive SUV and will also have an optional 4X4".

He also made sure to mention that Mahindra is all excited to challenge the D-segment and that M&M is happy to see such interest coming in from so many people.
Wait a minute; Didn't Mahindra try doing that already in the past with the Alturas G4?! - Of course, I did not want to kill his excitement, I patiently heard him out and eventually told him that I was all up for placing a booking if I was sure that the third row was getting its own A/C vents.

He politely answered that he is unfortunately not allowed to reveal any further information at this point, but that, he has made a note of my question and as soon as this information is made public by Mahindra, he will update me.

Not wanting to leave any stones unturned, he also added that Mahindra has taken the customer feedbacks (from all these years) very seriously, has tried its best to have all the feedback implemented in the new gen ScorpioN and assured me that I would love the big daddy.

Although I did not get any new information from him, it was a nice gesture from Mahindra to acknowledge my inquiry. Good job Mahindra.

I hope the real product and the experience further will be as good & pleasant as this call.

job Mahindra.

Had the same experience with the Mahindra dealership here in New Delhi. Upon asking the executive informally are they taking any unofficial bookings he declined and said no one is taking any such bookings.

Wondering why people are claiming to have such bookings.

I am sure there will be a huge waiting for the car. But I hope that mahindra has a proper first cum first serve system which is more efficient than the XUV 700. No one wants to book the car on day one and see people with connections or relatives of the outlets getting cars before the actual customer in line.

hopefully delaying the product by a year they can produce enough at least to cater the first 25,000 bookings in a couple of months.

Its the other way around really.

These “floating” ski-racks made their first appearance on the Crde Scorpio (the first one with the bonnet scoop) IIRC. It has been a regular feature of the car since then and got carried over to other models from time to time. Bolero also has a similar aftermarket one.

The one on the Xylo clearly looks like an afterthought and doesn’t really work as well as it does on the Scorpio.
