Re: How many cars (in total) have you driven?

I have been driving for just over a year, and I have quite an interesting list of cars to share.

I learnt to drive on two cars - late 2000 models of Swift (1) and i10(2). I'm pretty sure these battered cars don't signify the actual quality of the cars.

I purchased a used 2014 Ford Figo(3) in Delhi to get around the city. This is the car where I learnt to drive practically, and developed the confidence to drive a larger car in the city.

Meanwhile, I made a quick trip back home and drove a sparsely used 2015 Nissan Micra(4), which we eventually got home. Also, I got to drive my aunt's 2012 Renault Duster(5) and 2016 Hyundai Xcent(6) for a few hours.

With about 3-4 months of driving under my belt, it was time for a 3 week US trip. I waited a week to get accustomed to the environment and rules, before trying my hands on a mid 2000s Pontiac G6(7) that belonged to my wife's friend. The car made a lot of old car noises but it was the first automatic car I drove

The Pontiac gave me confidence to rent a car, so I went to the nearest Hertz. The only car available was a Jeep Wrangler(8), which I drove for a week before returning to India.

Coming back to the Figo, I realised I needed to change my daily driver. I test drove the Renault Captur(9), Mahindra Marazzo(10) and Jeep Compass(11) before narrowing down to the Honda BR-V(12). I have completed 8000 km on the BRV in just over 7 months.

It was time for another trip to the US, and I booked a Toyota Camry at Enterprise. The Camry belongs to a full size sedan category in the US and similar cars in the range include a Dodge Charger and Chevy Malibu. Unfortunately, I was given a Nissan Altima(13) (perhaps, the worst in the full size segment)

Long story short, I realized I lacked the discipline to drive a sedan even in the US after scraping the bumper in the parking thrice in two days. Went back to Enterprise and exchanged the Altima for a Nissan Rogue(14) (intermediate SUV, comparable to a Hyundai Tuscon). While I did drive the Rogue for 2000 miles, its 2.5L engine that produced 170 HP felt too underpowered compared to Honda engines. That's a story for another thread.

I have also occasionally driven ashsharma7's 2017 Renault Duster Sandstorm Edition(15).

I'm going for another US trip in December and this time, I've booked the Dodge Challenger - good old American muscle. Other cars in the segment are the Chevy Camaro and the Ford Mustang. Whatever I've driven till now, I'm sure I'll be surprised in December.

Fifteen cars in fifteen months. Not bad!
