Re: 2019 Tata Tiago facelift in the works

Could use some advice about buying my first car. I'm looking for a hatchback in the price range of a Tiago. Are there better options in the market at the moment? My daily use will run into 44km within the city. Would diesel be more economical?

As you are from Mumbai and I am assuming that you'll be travelling majority of those 44 km through traffic, hence I would suggest you to go for a CNG car.
Currently the options are limited and if you want a car with company fitted CNG and features like touch screen then Santro is the way to go and if space is your priority and you are okay with adding features as accessories then Wagon R is good option.

Still I think, you should wait for 2-3 months from now as there are some interesting launches around the corner - Tiago Facelift, Next Gen Alto and Renault Triber (just hoping it would have starting price somewhere near 5.5 to 6 lakhs)

Has there been any hints of when this updated version of Tiago is likely to roll-out? I'm on the verge of buying a car (probably a Tiago) but this is holding me back right now.

Re: 2019 Tata Tiago facelift in the works

Tata will launch the 2019 Tata Tiago refresh by mid-June, 2019.

Quote:
The front-end of the Tiago and Tiago NRG facelifts are expected to get add-ons like LED daytime running lights on higher-spec variants and a more aggressive-looking grille. Higher-spec variants will get the 15-inch alloy wheels that are offered on the current top-spec Tiago XZ+.
While Tata did introduce the larger 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the Tiago, this same Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible system will be added to the Tiago NRG too.
The Tiago will also get added safety kit across all variants like rear parking sensors, a driver’s side airbag, ABS and a speed warning system as standard. Both cars will also be compliant with crash test norms that will come into effect in July 2019.
The same updates are expected to roll out on Tata’s Tigor and the hotter versions of the Tiago and the compact sedan – which are suffixed with the JTP badge – in the coming months; likely during the upcoming festive season.

Sadly no mention of any engine upgrade. That was the only thing i really didn't like in the tiago. Otherwise a fantastic car.

The Tiago FL looks neat. Unfortunately the Tigor will never sell , facelift or otherwise, unless they can liberate more space in the cramped rear cabin.

Re: 2019 Tata Tiago facelift in the works

I am curious to know will the JTP twins get this similar face lift around the same time (July 2019) or will it have to wait for a longer time to get the face lift treatment.

Re: 2019 Tata Tiago facelift in the works

Will the new tiago be based on ALFA platform (as in case of altroz) or is it still on the old platform?

Being a facelift, and not a new generation, this will be based on the same platform. Changes will be limited to features and appearance changes like headlights taillights etc. Mechanical underpinnings will be the same.

Re: 2019 Tata Tiago facelift in the works

From what I know, major changes are to the nose in order to make it compliant with the crash test norms that come into effect from August this year.

Apart from this, there wont be any major changes. I am hoping to see LED DRL's or LED lamps atleast on the top variants.

Re: 2019 Tata Tiago facelift in the works

Muiltiple auto journals have published that Tata Motors has updated the Tata Tiago with additional safety features such as dual airbags, rear parking sensors, etc as standard across the range and now the car starts from 4.4 lakh rupees.

The Tiago website still doesn't reflect these changes as of now.

Re: 2019 Tata Tiago facelift in the works

1st update in May, 2019
2nd update in Mid-June, 2019
3rd update (maybe) in October, 2019 (BNVSAP)
4th update in March, 2020 (BS6)
4 updates in 10 months

I think I will buy a pre-owned (2018/19) car, because even without these rules / standards, Tiago is a pretty safe car.
Beeps might irritate some one to actually crash their car

Re: 2019 Tata Tiago facelift in the works

While the Tiago product website doesn't mention tbis as yet. The Tata Motors website has a press release stating the update.

https://www.tatamotors.com/press/tat...ross-variants/

This would result in increase of ex-showroom prices by upto 14000 and variants upto XT/XTA should be affected as XZ and XZ+ already have all the features. This would also reduce the feature difference between XT and XZ variants significantly.

But I'm so glad that XZ is not affected as I just took delivery of an espresso brown XZ evening only.

The crash test norms come into effect from April 1, 2020. Just booked a XZ yesterday. The variants have been tweaked to compete at each price range and all models now have the mandatory ABS and Airbags.
