Re: Renault Duster 1.3L Petrol @ Auto Expo 2020

Wish they'd at least improve the crash worthiness in the BS-6 Duster. For me, that would make a very very compelling buy given its all rounder nature + ride quality + price.

Re: Renault Duster 1.3L Petrol @ Auto Expo 2020

The Renault website lists prices for the petrol duster, and one of the pages:
https://www.renault.co.in/vehicles/p...rformance.html
says the 1.5L petrol engine is BS6 compliant.

I assume this is not true?

Re: Renault Duster 1.3L Petrol @ Auto Expo 2020

As much as I am amazed by the specs on offer, how is this turbo petrol supposed to compensate for the 1.5 diesel? Pretty sure this will return FE numbers just about half or a bit more than half of what the diesel gives.

Pretty sure a sizeable chunk of duster sales were for the diesel. Wonder how the market will receive it now. Top end 1.3 turbo petrol might be more than 16 lacs on road or maybe even 17 in cities like Bangalore. For that kind of money, the old design and interiors kinda give it a disadvantage.

Just my opinion.

Re: Renault Duster 1.3L Petrol @ Auto Expo 2020

With all the excitement on the Kicks threads, what happened to the similar Duster 1.3? Renault really needs to expedite at their end else Seltos, Hector, Creta and now the Kicks will lock the Duster out totally.

Re: Renault Duster 1.3L Petrol @ Auto Expo 2020

The lowest turbo petrol variant of the Nissan Kicks (XV) has been launched at around 11.7 Lakhs. This seems equal in features to the highest spec of the recently launched 2020 Duster, the RxZ. The Duster RxZ is priced at 9.99 lakhs with the 1.5 NA engine and the next lower trim, the RxS, is priced at 9.39 lakhs.

I think Renault could pull off a coup if they offered an RxS with the 1.3 Turbopetrol engine at 9.99 lakhs. Slash the price of the NA RxS a bit to make room. That would then be a dream car, with the 1.3 Turbopetrol, mated to a 6 speed manual, riding on a sorted and mature platform as the Duster!

The only thing that would make sense for a Duster update is a mid-spec 1.3 and a top end AWD 1.3. That would retain the Duster USPs of i) robustness and ride quality for the average Joe and ii) performance/versatility for the enthusiastic Joe.
There is no point in replicating the variant mix that is there for the Kicks.

The Renault Duster 1.3 Turbo Petrol is expected to be launched in August 2020. Few Renault dealers have also confirmed the launch details.

Re: Renault Duster 1.3L Petrol @ Auto Expo 2020

The Duster has the brand cache that the Kicks doesn't, so I'm hoping this gets more traction than the Kicks has gotten so far. That engine is too interesting to be ignored, IMO.

And although AWD will not sell in large numbers, the idea of a 160hp go(almost)anywhere vehicle is incredibly tempting.

12.5 starting price? Looks like another failure in making

Suddenly Kicks seems VFM for the given size, interiors, etc

Re: Renault Duster 1.3L Petrol @ Auto Expo 2020

As capable a car the Duster is, this to me, seems like DOA.

The car is nearly a decade old and neither is the design relevant and lets not even touch the subject of interiors.

Maybe a little inspiration is from the German stable who sold The Rapid Rider quite handsomely however, no one would pay north of 11 Lakhs for decade old car when there are plenty of options for the buyers in any segment, not just CSUVs.

How about the prospect of an AWD Duster with 156bhp petrol engine and CVT? I think that will thrill a lot of adventure seekers who have to compromise with pseudo offroading electronic gimmicks on road-only CSUVs or spend atleast 30 lacs to get AWD hardware that is essentially similar to the Duster.
If we get that configuration, I’d care less about the age of the platform .

I agree with you on this, Duster has some good fan following and if they price it right then this could be the one which might get them good sales.

On a different note, having read of all the injector failures I hope it’s just to do with the 110ps engine only.

Saw many people in my area buying duster during February-March period, probably due to the BS4 discounts but that says people still believe in Duster! I simply love the ride quality it offers!

I have owned the 110 ps Duster in the past and never had such failures. In fact zero mechanical problems. I would be willing to go back to it anytime, but they should upgrade things like no of airbags( also bigger airbags) , ESP as standard, a better infotainment system- basically make it more contemporary without changing its essential mechanical prowess of ride and handling.
