Re: Maruti sells over 75,000 units of the S-Presso in 1 year

Like I mentioned in previous posts, Government feels NCAP or newer crash regulations are not the long term or full proof solutions as they promote passive safety solutions and in some cases are promoting rash driving by providing a sense of safety/security.

In discussions at government/SIAM levels, from what I hear, a focus is emerging on active safety solutions where cars are able to stop collisions. Even though in short term, the crash regulations will be present, in longer term, government will insist on active safety measures.

Yes, they certainly are present.

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso has got two direct rivals, Datsun Redi-Go 1.0 and Renault Kwid 1.0, all three of which have been tested by Global-NCAP.

Here is how these three 1.0 litre A-segment cars in India fared comparatively on the Global-NCAP test.

DATSUN REDI-GO (1* adult & 2* child)

Important Note: Both, the Renault Kwid and Datsun Redi-Go tested by Global-NCAP were pre-facelift models. Renault and Datsun both claim the 2020 BS6 facelifts of the Kwid and Redi-Go also feature structural improvements to meet the newly implemented mandatory crash test (@ 56 kmph, not Global-NCAP's 64 kmph) requirements in India.

So, this comparison may not be 100% accurate if the Kwid & Redi-Go feature actual structural improvements.

I accept sir, if Govt can’t enforce who else can? They should simple increases taxes and reduce all the benefits they give to the factory based on each car. Then they would automatically follow. It is up to manufacturer to take it or lose it.

Reg Maruti not being serious, because we are buying it year after year model after model. So this is on us. We want reliable, good ASS, high resale, high mileage per liter cars, VFM - handful of manufacturers fit in this category in India

On a lighter note,
If the thread’s title was being played on radio, it would have sounded like
Maruti has sold 75000 units of espresso in one year

A layman in his thoughts, they must have started selling coffee at their showrooms to boost revenues.
