Re: Next-gen Maruti Alto (Y0M) caught testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 3.99 lakh

Soon the roads will be filled with these pocket rockets!

I still remember when we bought our first car, an Alto Lxi, 2009 model. I was 16 back then and as far as i can remember it was Rs 3.10 Lakh(on road) with some accessories like stereo and mats.

Compared to that prices have gone up but so has the price of everything! Keeping inflation and the tax structure in mind, i don't think the prices are too much to complain about!

I believe 2 wheelers aren't really the best case for comparison. Manufacturers were caught with pants down when BS6 implementation was preponed. Most of them were'nt prepared for moving over to FI and ABS. This resulted substantial increase in price.

However, most cars were already equipped or compatible with ABS, Airbag etc. much before 2019. Take the case of cars, there were substantial reduction in features with price increments varying from 10-30% (from 2020 to now). With the metal prices stabilizing, manufacturers should ideally price the products sanely, else they might be killing the goose that lays golden eggs.
Unfortunately, salaries of everyone haven't really caught up with inflation and price rise.

Alto pricing is making Jazz and Amaze seem more VFM. Even an upgrade to nexa isn't a bad idea.

I think you are being too kind to the two wheeler industry. My company works with Indian OEMs like Bajaj and Hero and trust me these guys knew what was coming and yet did not do anything fearing loss of sales due to price rise. But the continual price rise is a serious concern and the cost of cars like Alto and S-Presso is only a knock off effect of the higher segments runaway demand and equally senseless pricing.

Whoa, a slider for AC temperature control as well! That is another step backwards.

At 6.86 lakhs on road Mumbai for top end Auto, this does not make any sense. Ignis delta AT at 7.57 lakh on road screams VFM in comparison. Better in every respect except some features.

Can we actually integrate front parking sensors, available as part of accessories, to factory fitted infotainment unit in top model?
That will be great for someone using this as a first car to learn driving.

Re: Next-gen Maruti Alto (Y0M) caught testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 3.99 lakh

This new k10 reminds me of the Yugo and a very expensive Yugo at that. No self respecting Japanese will ever be caught dead driving down the street in this car and the Japanese market Alto is testament to this. I would rather continue to drive down the road in my Maruti 800 than spend a lot of money enriching the coffers of Maruti-Suzuki by buying this turd on wheels.

Mod Note: Our Maruti Alto K10 Review has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!
