I've seen a few PCPs running here in Chandigarh as well.

Such format numbers are advertised regularly in Chandigarh classifieds for about 1.5 Lac rupees (The deal includes a 1980s - 1990s model maruti 800 bearing the registration number most of the times)
But bhaisaab ji, what happens to ORIGINAL car which had this number?????????

No offence to you or your friend raging bull.
Well my friend took the pic of the Figo. And here's another pic of the R8. That effect you see is because of the rain.

Re: Beware: Fake registration numbers on Imported Cars (proof on Pg 3)

A couple of more that I have spotted :

MH-01-M-82 : Spotted on a black Lincoln Navigator in 2005. The number then moved onto a maroon Cadillac Fleetwood. By 2007, the Lincoln Navigator had MP plates.

Found this pic of a Lexus RX300 showing 2 different plates. Going by the wheels and the body-kit, they seem to be the same vehicle sporting 2 plates at different times maybe.

I think in Punjab there is a facility to reuse the old registration. Probably the older car is already scrapped or is running with new number plates.

Re: Beware: Fake registration numbers on Imported Cars (proof on Pg 3)

I doubt these are old registration numbers. Delhi still uses registration numbers like DEV for new cars as well. Guess they are VIP numbers and are available at a premium. Check this old gen Mercedes C Class with a DEV registration (the car ahead is a Nissan 350Z) :

Re: Beware: Fake registration numbers on Imported Cars (proof on Pg 3)

In the early 1980's at Kolkata, I would spot new WBZ registered, imported Japanese bikes, not superbikes but ones with engines upto 250cc.The WMN and later WNM and other such series were in vogue for newer two wheelers then.
I am of the opinion that in collusion with the local RTO, selected WBZ numbers were being handpicked pertaining to two wheelers whose registrations may have been cancelled due to whatever reasons like accidents and write off being a major one among the many.
It was hard to believe that the WB RTO people would be so corrupt to recreate ghost/cremated registration numbers all over again. But very recently I met a person who has quit a RTO, West Bengal Motor Vehicle Inspector's job (he may have been a Sub Inspector who's below the inspector) as he wanted to lead a better life and not one where one is forced to become corrupt. He has joined in another department ( a cleaner one) as a Gazetted officer.

In Punjab the old car is scrapped. In Haryana, the old car can get a new number from the current series.

I have doubts whether this is a genuine R8. I don't know is it due to the angle of the photo or too much shine of the car or fact that its parked on road side being washed there makes me feel this is one of those replica cars and not genuine R8. just my view. does anyone else feel the same?

No offence dude but you can go deaf if that R8 goes loud!! That is a genuine V10, a very famous one actually bought from Audi Kolkata.

Also, is it possible to have the same temporary number on more than 1 car if it is from the same dealer ??

Below are some pics taken from various threads and I guess all the 4 cars are from the same dealer i.e. Navnit.
AFAIK, TC is not temporary registration, but Trade Certificate which is issued to the dealer by RTO. These numbers are interchangeable and only catch is that, at any given time, only one vehicle should use this number.

Audi running a Mahindra Xylo's plates! Amazing that these idiots think they can get away with it. Charges levied by the Police are very serious in nature.

Quote:
He had been using the fake plate since July 2010 and was caught only when the Rs 38 lakh Audi car was stopped for having tinted windows; his driver has been arrested.
