Wow, the fight seems to have shifted from Baleno Vs OHC Vtec to SX4 vs NHC Vtec. Same game, diff players.....eh?

I've driven both cars and they just ain't as exciting as the cars they've replaced.

Yup since they had so much demand they really didn't need to do anything but look at what stiff competition has done to them. They are now introducing latest products & trying to make them VFM to take on the bigger players in the higher segments. And since the biggest gainer is the customer I say why not.

It's positive, it's great & fantastic to see we are being finally offered the safety equipment we always deserved.

Honda in India has never been a VFM brand, they have instead used their brand image to get away with poorly equipped cars which are otherwise good products. But to me this is the rude shock they needed to wake out of their slumber. I think they would've got inside information about how much equipment the SX4 was coming with and hence made the announcement of added equipment on their cars too.

This will do for Honda what the Baleno did for MUL. Wake them upto changing realities & understanding that the Indian consumer is no fool.

Bang on Shan. Both the new cars are not a patch on the oldies as far as driving them is concerned.

Wow!
This thread has turned into an exciting and interesting read.

No! I won't be soon buying an SX4 or an NNHC. But still..... I would choose an SX4 if I had to.

Welcome oh leader of the Honda fight club . Actually there was never a fight. Its the way some people portray other cars. However, I do agree with you that the new crop of cars aren't as exciting as their predecessors save the safety features.

Damn right there - though we should also be seeing the Fiesta 1.6 in place of the Ikon in this and other comparos. Again another example of successor not being as exciting.

As VFM as both cars maybe, they're just not worth fighting over.

Infact, the absence of ABS, TCS, EBD and the lot, gives the older cars it's charm. Makes them that much more harder to drive, on the limit.

A driver's car is the one that lets the driver dictate terms. With all these safety features, you're just another passenger.

I get more excitement from playing GT4, sitting on my sofa at home. Hehe

True. But they have their advantages and disadvantages on and off the tracks.

Sheesh, get over your games and head to the track with your Vtec man. Btw, have you read about the Shoot out thingy? You should come.

Sir..With due respect, I think u r skating on thin ice there.. talking about soulfull Honda touch and all.. .. I actually wince every time I see an NHC and wonder "Is this how cars of the future are gonna look like?".

I can tell you from the bottom of my soul that I will never wear bell bottom pants or buy an NHC like car.. no matter how popular they are.. now or in the future..

I do hope you know that you are talking about the cheapest vfm honda sedan in the world, the Honda City.

Why bother about exterior when most of time you are inside
Between SX4 & NHC, Exterior scores:
SX4: 10/10
NHC: 10/10

Well, we all know its a tough competition, but given the same features at the same price, I would go in for NHC

I voted for the SX4. I feel its definitely a welcome entrant in the segment it caters to. For that amount of money, while i would prefer a Fiesta 1.6 over the NHC, I think i can add the SX4 too to my wish list.

Now, that's a big 'given'. As it stands today, even the normal (76 bhp) versions of NHC are costlier than the SX4. The Vtec (which should be compared to the SX4) is costlier by a lakh and more.
The assumption that Honda will add ABS, airbags etc and reduce the price to SX4 levels is assuming a little too much.

Either
1. They will add the features and increase prices. OR
2. They will add the features and retain current prices.

What remains to be seen is whether in either of these 2 scenarios, people will buy the NHC or the SX4.

This, I believe, is not reflected in the poll question, which assumes that the NHC will come at the same price as SX4 with added features, which is a wrong assumption.

I love Honda!!! But my vote goes to SX4.

VTEC or no VTEC, NHC is not to my taste, unless I am Darth Vader

I think the poll is not realistic - I cannot imagine Honda ever lowering the NHC Vtec prices to SX4 levels, that too with ABS & Airbags added on!

As things stand, I would buy the SX4 over the NHC Vtec anyday - even if the Vtec came with ABS & Airbags at existing prices. The reason - quite simple really, the SX4 is a NEW car and is much more VFM. Notwithstanding the hype about the Vtec, its grunt, its growl, et al........my opinion only!
