Re: BYOD | Build Your Dream Car for 20 lakhs OTR

I would love to have a Red Tata Harrier body coupled with Mahindra's 200 bhp petrol engine, Astor's interiors with Thars 4wd system. If I could extend the budget, would love to exchange the Mahindra's engine to Toyota's 2.8 diesel.

Every time I see the Harrier, I just can't take my eyes off it. Really wish it had a 4wd atleast as a option. Comon Tata, when you're talking about pedigree, isn't it about the 4wd offroad ability of the Land Rover?😭

Re: BYOD | Build Your Dream Car for 20 lakhs OTR

My BYODC will have the following features [to be implemented in my Rapid Style Plus - 12.6 Lac on Road]:

Engine: The 1.6 MPI to be TC'd -- Generate ~150PS [Around 2 lac, assuming existing chassis can handle extra power, or else the 1.8 TSI from Laura!] Current engine bay looks so empty, that it can fit a TC.
Brakes: Extra pair of Discs [with ABS, ESTC] [Another 2 lac]
Seats: More vertical and horizontal adjustment for the Driver seat [May be another .5 Lac]
To top it all up, Push start like the Chevy Cruz [May be another .5 Lac]

These are all I wish for in my Dream car.

Few more dreams:
The Chevy SRV hatch -- Hexa's AT with either Laura's 1.8 TSI Engine or Magnum's Diesel Engine.
Existing Skoda Rapid with ~150 PS power and equally good performance, but as an EV with a ~800KM range.
TATA Altroz with all-around discs and Nexon's Diesel engine with slightly higher power-torque output [~140 PS/300NM] with HEXA's AT.

Re: BYOD | Build Your Dream Car for 20 lakhs OTR

Not long ago, there was Ford which gave that package with the EcoSport and The S variant (the BS4 TDCi. Was trouble free) It had all the right ingredients except rear seat space. Had the service cost of a Maruti, Fit/Finish on par with Germans and features wise all usable features. All under 15L OTR Bangalore.

Their own follies killed them in India.

Now it's tough for people like me to choose another car :(. Currently I feel M&M and Tata are giving some amazing cars under 20L with all features but the fit and finish being a WIP. Maintenance wise, I think almost all car brands are at par give or take a few thousands.

I've driven most of the cars under 30L and not even Crysta comes close to the dynamics of EcoSport. Though crysta is very comfortable in the 2nd row. The only car who came close to it was of course from the VAG stable.

Nice thread though!

On a side note:If Ford changes it's mind and comes back, I'll still go and get another top of the line EcoSport or Kuga.

Re: BYOD | Build Your Dream Car for 20 lakhs OTR

My BYOD with a 20 Lac budget is very simple, i.e. Tata Harrier with
1. Toyota's Service and reliability.
2. Maruti's maintenance cost and network.
3. 5 star GNCAP rating.
