Re: Lowest reading on Odometer for number of ownership years?

Below is the ODO of my Yamaha Ray Z in 5.4 years. Even the Service Guys used to be surprised by the low running when i used to bring it in for servicing.

Re: Lowest reading on Odometer for number of ownership years?

Interesting as I was in one such car. My father's 2011 Nissan Micra (10 years old now) and is under 6500 km. Of which I drove about 2000 in a couple of months. He has been always using his activa (previously LML Vespa) for the super short commutes that you can have with a retired life in Chandigarh.

Re: Lowest reading on Odometer for number of ownership years?

My RE Classic 350 has done only 12XXX km in 5 years (complete next month).

Off topic: I got the bike for ₹1,60,XXX in 2017, and recently while getting it serviced at a FNG the guy offered me ₹1,50,000 for it because the new one now apparently costs 2.5L on road . Since then I have decided to hold on to it for a little longer and see if I can sell it for the price I got it in.

Odo at 12345.6 km

Re: Lowest reading on Odometer for number of ownership years?

A friend of mine bought a KTM Duke 390 in Jan or Feb 2020 and has ridden only 600 kms till now. Very low running even after accounting for lockdowns.

Re: Lowest reading on Odometer for number of ownership years?

Great idea for a thread on team-bhp and that mileage on your grandpa's car probably is the lowest.

And I thought that my rides usually have very low mileage.

Innova, 13 years, 47300km (distance covered in last 7 years, approx. 3000kms)
Swift, 10 years, 23000km
Polo GT TSI, 7 years, 8000kms
Activa, 11.5 years, 10100kms

I do not remember which car was it, but I read an article which mentioned about a car which was driven only from the showroom to the owner's garage and never driven, though it was getting its routine maintenance on time. The mileage at the time when the article was written was less than 100kms and the car was considered as a high value vintage. That is what for me a car with the lowest reading on odometer.

Re: Lowest reading on Odometer for number of ownership years?

We picked up a A-Star AT a few years back. The previous owner had done 11800 km in 3.5 years of ownership. Usage further dropped for 2-3 years after our purchase. But has picked up since covid started - and has now crossed 44k. Still just 5k per year average.

My Activa did about 4k in 3.x years before I sold it. This was expected since the running is only local - mostly within a 6km radius.

Re: Lowest reading on Odometer for number of ownership years?

The current cars in our garage are also a victim to this "problem". The most affected is my 2014 Hyundai Grand i10 Asta AT which has only done 19000 kms in 7 1/2 years of its life!
Due to the pandemic, It had only run 1500 kms since its last service which was done exactly last year. My 2018 Innova Crysta 2.4 VX on the other hand has done 26000 kms in 3 years which isn't exactly low mileage but for an Innova that's anything but run in mileage for these cars)

Re: Lowest reading on Odometer for number of ownership years?

My bike, more than 14 years, roughly 43000 km.
There was a Bajaj Super which did just around 10000 km after 15 years.

Please note the number of digits in your odometer. I owned a 1995 Zen which was my first brand new car by the way. The booking papers of were bought for a premium of Rs 50,000 which was the norm at that time if you are not willing to wait for years after booking a car. I used the car quite extensively, did a LPG conversion after the warranty was over. That had a similar odometer and reading will be back to 00000 after 99999 and I have seen it more than once. Hence you may find it hard to find buyers who believe your odo reading if you ever decide to part with your car

Re: Lowest reading on Odometer for number of ownership years?

Our first family car 1988 M800 had done only 42K Kms in 15 years till we sold it in 2003. Major reason for such a low Odo was my Dad's Govt Allotted vehicles ( M&M jeeps, Gypsies and Amby's).

2013 TVS Wego has done 12000 KM till date. 2014 Thunderbird 350 is at 5500 KM. Seriously considering selling the bike now.

Re: Lowest reading on Odometer for number of ownership years?

The Jupiter we bought in May 2020, has done a mere 1115 km. Out of this, I would have done about 250 km in a matter of 10-12 days Two wheelers hardly do any mileage at home, especially after my younger one started going in school van from 2018.

Cars do the exact opposite, have done about 90k between the Corolla and S-Cross from October 2017.

Re: Lowest reading on Odometer for number of ownership years?

My Honda Dio was bought nearly 5 years ago. It has run 2700 km as of now.

The first service was at 1 month/1000 km. When I left it for service it had 99 km in the Odo. The service person could not believe his eyes. He was asking if the Odometer didn't perform, if I had any issues with bike, why I didn't even touch 100 km.

The Dio was bought only for my son's one-way school commute with wife. With pandemic bringing a halt to that commute too , the last 1.5 years has seen Dio running only about 100 kms.
