Sergius tweeted last night. Citroen showcased the updated range too. You can make out by the black headlamps on both C3 and C3 Aircross.

Re: Scoop! Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe spotted testing in Chennai

The updated C3 / Aircross should have been the product they should have had on the launch day itself. We've had many case studies in Indian automotive industry in the past when if a product on launch is not received well, people write it off completely even if it updates itself really well enough in the later stages too.

Basalt looks like a proper good attempt by the brand, just hope it gets the recognition it deserves.

Re: Scoop! Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe spotted testing in Chennai

As much as I hate Coupe SUVs, this looks like a very decent product.

Now all they need to do is to ensure the a lot of the target customers know that Citroen even exists. I'm not joking, most people don't even know about the brand.

They need to ensure that people across India sees this product. Due to its special oddball shape, I don't think it will have any trouble catching people's attention

Re: Scoop! Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe spotted testing in Chennai

Man, this needs the fantastic 110 hp 1.5 diesel of the Duster or the 140 hp 1.3 turbo petrol. 110 hp is a bit less for this segment and size. Looks like an AMT there, just hope they get the CVT of the Kiger.

Re: Scoop! Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe spotted testing in Chennai

Barring the extended coupe rear roofline, car reminds me of Renault Kwid!

At this point, our (Indians) craze for SUV's have forced OEM's to call every single car coming out of their kitty to be called as a 'SUV/M-SUV/C-SUV' - this seriously sickens me!

Regardless, between Curvv & Basalt, I'd pick Basalt anyday- reasons:

1) Car is exclusive - meaning, people will hardly mistake it to a Harrier/Safari/Punch etc unlike Currv!

2) Engine seems to have proved it's mettle with our bhpians certified reviews on its turbo petrol on other siblings it shares it's engine with

3) Citroen will be a fresh experience unlike pool of same cars from Tata, Hyundai, Kia and Maruti

4) Lastly, I'm sure the plastic quality and finesse will be far superior than Tata Curvv for sure. Can bet on this until I'm proven otherwise through official reviews

Re: Scoop! Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe spotted testing in Chennai

The dual tone red is on point, both options in this 'segment' are looking good!

I hope Citroen's fortunes turn around after the updates across the range.

Not a huge fan of how it turned out to be, but it is palatable.

For the enthusiast, an upgrade to wider, lower profile tyres would be awesome. The ride and handling would complement it.

From this angle, Basalt has a lot of similarities to the first gen Dzire barring the face. This looks like a spacious car and if priced right, this should sell. They just have to increase their reach (read dealership and service network).

Re: Scoop! Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe spotted testing in Chennai

With Basalt, Citroen have addressed lot of gripes from their previous launches. From misplaced power window switches to lack of features as per segment standards, they had miscalculated most things in their previous cars.

They have learnt the lesson hard way and now primed with Basalt with even a segment first feature - adjustable thigh supports. Car looks complete and up to segment standards. Pricing will decide whether this will be a hit or failure.

Had they done this sort of approach in their previous cars, they would have been definitely successful. Now it is a bit difficult to change the customer perception unless they hit sixers out of the blocks.

This has to be a standout feature, so many cars around today in the 10-20L range and not even one offers an adjustable thigh support. Citroen has won me over with this one. There are so many cars with poor under-thigh support on Indian roads, that this feature has to be a mandatory option rather than the sunroof. It might look small but way more useful than many of the other features on offer today.
Those who travel long distances regularly will surely appreciate it once they use it.
