I hope somebody does not misuse this. What if somebody identifies a vehicle of similar model / make / colour as yours, identifies the regn. number from the site and goes on to use his vehicle with YOUR number plate for some illegal activity?

When I've entered some nos like KL-07-AE, KL-07-AW which was originally registered with Kakkanad RTO(before the formation of other sub RTOs), it should atleast give a message like the no is now being moved to the sub-RTO or redirect etc.... rather than simply giving a bland message !

Hi Sankar,

I take that TO means Transfer of Ownership.

You are lucky that the name change is reflected in your case. Only one of mine reflects the address to which I sold it to. The car has left them and is still in their name.

For another vehicle which was sold to True Value and they have sent me the copy of the registration after transferring ownership. The car is still in my name according to the site. I still own the Standard 2000 (with Peugeot diesel engine) which I registered in May 1992 and sold 2 years later.

Its a good move, they shoud make tax payments, colletions and online forms submission too, if not already.

More self-help, less babu-help.

What did he say? Hope he was alright over the phone.

Is'nt this happening for a long time already? I know of scores of cars in Mumbai which ply and are owned by people living in the city, but have Thane/ Vashi registration to save on the Octroi.
What my worry here is, in case of accidents/ complaints, the police would be sent on a wild goose chase. And come to think of it, I'm sure people who stay on rent do not bother to change the address on the RC book everytime they change residence. Then whom does one catch, and how helpful are sites like these?
Good initiative by the KL police btw.clap: Am waiting for the Mumbai RTO to do something like this..

This has been there for quite some time now - but it was initially only for Ernakulam and Trivandrum RTO.

If one is bent on using the info for some misuse, they can always get it from the RTO either by bribing or I think now through Right To Information Act (not sure of the latter though).

I dont think the system is working perfectly. I entered the registration number of a vehicle and it says "No" :Frustrati

You might want to check up with the RTo whether the ownership details of your old car has been changed.

the site is yet to be complete in every sense.the names of first owners are there but not of the present owner.this happens especially if the vehicle is registered in a different district by the second owner.
ram

i think something wrong with site or its not complete

i cant see the details for my old esteem or OHC..
