Hi Ritesh, Honda is going to discontinue the existing ZX and VTec series. The newer version will be equipped with iVtec engines.

Nice find! Also, interesting first hand report on the test drive..

One thing that hasn't been improved is the engine refinement. It's by no means bad, but when you push the engine it likes to let you know it's working! The engine gets fussy and noisy when pushed, and it's not a fun sort of engine note either. Just loud. But under "normal" driving conditions this won't be much of an issue.
This is unlike HONDA (must be because of the drive by wire throttle response)! anyways, it will be a good companion to my one-year old SX4

I believe, this is because the actual delivery may start in january 2009. So till that time, G3HC will be on display for those who want to go for newer version and NHC will still be on sale to clear the old stock.

True. And once the customer is in the showroom, the sales team will try to sell the existing model , by offering discounts etc etc, and also by telling there will be x wait period. Whether the buyer books the new model or buys old its win-win for honda.

No wonder they are launching only the top end versions. This way they can project it as a costlier option and push the sale of EXi & GXi. Dealers will do their bit by enticing the customer saying the current versions are very cheap and the new ones will have long waiting period and all those nonsense.

Later on they can bring in an E version of the newer HC in the GXi price range.

Effectively they are making sure they don't lose customers to Linea or SX4 during the festival season.

Shrewd move.

Both VTEC and CVT already pulled. The current gen will continue in production side by side for at least till 2009

Seems likely since the 1.3L ivtec is expected early next year. This way they would have a powerful 1.5 and a more FE 1.3 to cater to a wider customer base..

Now that the City has been launched officially, can I request the mods to close this thread or merge it with the other one?
