Big mistake if they price it around 20 lakhs. It has to be in the range of 15 lakhs for it to do some damage to the Endy, CR-V or for that matter the Fortuner. Most people will prefer to spend that much on a Toyota and not a Hyundai. Just my opinion cos I definitely will not! Fortuner (Bigger + mean looks + awesome engine!)

Have never liked Korean cars except the Kia cars.

Hyundai will have to be very careful with the pricing, considering the fact that Captiva is the poor cousin (competitor) of the Fortuner & Endy. If it has to be reasonably priced, it should be well below Rs. 20 lacs OTR.

Is this Santa Fe really under testing? Just noticed a compact disc hanging suspended from the inside rear view mirror!
Recording "test data" eh?!

What's a CUV? A compact utility vehicle?
This is compact, when compared to an SUV, but i see no utility in it. By calling this a CUV we are reducing it MRP. Maybe the Premier Rio is a CUV.
This can only be sold as a Luxury Soft Roader.
That is the segment that Hyundai would be targeting. if this is brought as CBU then expect this to be priced a touch below Honda CRV.

CUV stands for Crossover utility vehicle

Santa Fe is close to Captiva is terms of dimensions and not exactly compact. Cargo space would be generous with the 3rd seat folded down.

Santa fe has undergone some minor facelifts recently. I dont think there will be a new design for another 2-3 years.

Sighted the Santa Fe

On a drive from Nagercoil to Madurai, while I was cruising at 130, a black SUV whooshed past. I noticed just in time that it was a Santa Fe. I told my driver to speed up and had to go to about 160 to catch up with it.
Composure was very good and high speed curves were done with ease at about 150, without slowing down one bit. had to work my Montero to stay with him. Here are the pics.

1) Good Catch and good observation.

2) The car looks like the first generation car ( first generation Santa Fe ), but may be that outer body is just a method to misguide. There might the new car under the skin ( new second generation Santa Fe ).

3) I hope that the second generation Satna Fe come with the latest R-series diesel units from Hyundai.

4) If its a CBU import, then it means the car will not be a success due to inevitable high pricing thanks to duties.

5) Somehow, as compared to Montero, the Santa Fe looks smaller with a less road presence. Montero is one of the best when it comes to road presence ( along with LC, Fortuner IMO ). The Santa Fe has less height as compared to Montero, and somehow I felt that the road presence is not as much as SUV's in Rs. 20 lakh range.
