Indica Vista looks & feel refreshingly good

Very many thanks Sid for sharing the Scoop info!

My feel & opinion on Indica Vistas are:

Black & beige interior looks great!

On the Interiors positive appeals comes from:

Driver seat adjustment,
adjustable Steering wheel,
door mount power window controls,
re-located front cup holders,
grip type door handles,
70mm increased wheel base gives more leg room
120mm extra length resulting in increased luggage space

On the exteriors the best appeals are from

Side blinker below ORVM
Better designed rub rails
Crispy body lines
Roof Mount Antenna
Wide head lamps with center bonnet line

Expect the following features to becomes Standard across all models:
Tachometer
Front seat back pockets
Front & rear door pockets with bottle holders

Features expected atleast as Optional:

SRS-Airbags
ABS-Brakes
Motorized ORVMs
Automatic Gear Transmission
Left Hand Drive version choice

Over all Tata Indica has evolved in its all new Vista avatar.
I pray & hope that the Visata in flesh -appeal the same way the brochure does!

Happy to see Indian Auto maker Tata is seriously progressing!
Good work Team Tata cheers:

Yes Swift is beaten. DDiS has 190Nm only @ 2,000rpm, where this Quadrajet touches it in 1750 rpm..

Diesel Gurus! please explain the wonder done by Tata

Yes. You are right. Swift produces about 178Nm at 1750 rpm. This means that Quadrajet is producing more torque (and thus more power) at lower rpms and thus will give more power band, resulting in more drivability and quicker 0-100 for a given set of gear ratios. Unless Indica vista has some screwed up gear ratios, quadrajet beat the Swift.

It would be fantastic if TM added a variant with auto transmission (preverably CVT) mated to the diesel engine. I think that would be really successful since it would be both economical to run and easy to drive in city traffic.

Nice looks. Great effort from Tata. Now let's see how do they price this car.

From the looks of it, this car will kill the Palio 1.1 and MJD rather than eating into sales of the Swift.

I think Fiat would be reduced to supplying parts and assembling
cars for Tata. Sad...

not really. for many reasons

1) Palio is beyond recovery now. A good car dead by poor service, costly spare parts and some unfavorable rumors. Any energy put in reviving its fortunes is probably ill-invested.
2) Linea and grand Punto are coming - and will be positioned as premium cars in the TATA- FIAT line-up

and then again why should we be married to a brand? As long as we are getting great cars why should we worry if its a TATA or a FIAT

If the Vista has sorted out the quality issues, i see no reason why Swift would have a better rating than Vista. Lets see how it turns out to be.

Somebody had commented about assembley lines in the first few pages. IIRC, the current Indica assembly line is imported second hand. It cost Tatas only a fraction of what would have cost them to set up a brand new assembly line at that time.

I think alloys will be available in SP1. SP2 will give us ABS, SRS, propah console, etc. :-P

Good job Tatas!!!

Not true. Only the paint shop was imported second hand, from Nissan's defunct Australian plant. The assembly line was brand new, created with inputs provided by British engineering firms.

Would be? They're already reduced to that. In the JV arrangement that exists, Fiat merely manufactures the car. Tata decides everything else: pricing, servicing, spare parts availability and pricing, advertising, everything!

Licensing is not a bad idea. I mean, Microsoft doesnt sell any PC's nowadays , but it doesnt look sad at all!

I think this would be a good example of 2 companies focussing on their core competencies

v2..

I am someone who bought an Indica just for its ABS and Airbags as late as May this year. I couldn't find ANY DIESEL HATCHBACK with these features except Indica. Well, there is Skoda Fabia of course, but that's for people who don't respect money.

In a way it makes me feel good that Vista doesn't have ABS/Airbags as of now. I can now postpone my guilt of buying V2 TCIC just a few months before its upgrade.

True, they got assembly line for 90 crores when a new one costed 400 crores. This was mentioned in an article in India Today on making of the Indica. It is how they creat Indica with a budget of Rs. 1800 crores when it would have cost 12000 crores any where else.

A very nice looking car. Great job TATAs
