Re: SX4 Diesel - Is it on the cards? Update: Now launched

Given the huge waitlists for the Swift and Dzire diesels which sport the same engine, will MSIL be able to cater to the additional demand for SX4-D ? I think they need to do something to first ramp up capacity, before launching more cars that use the diesel engine.

It is stupid to launch a car, spend loads of money on advertising, generate customer interest, but not be able to deliver when the customers are lined up. And it is not just with diesel-engines that MSIL has done this. An example is the A-Star-AT which they launched with much fanfare and which many of us here have found to be a nimble and fuel-efficient city hatch, but which takes 1-3months delivery period. All this for a car that even in its MT version sells only ~4K monthly.

@Torquedo, not sure how using a different name for the VGT will lead to increased price for the car. This is only on the lines of MultiJet being named DDiS by MSIL.

They may be expecting that some of the sales of DZire Diesel and even Swift Diesel will be converted to SX4 sales, and remaining demand they can handle!

One of the dealers in Pune mentioned a waiting period of 2 months for the SX4 diesel.

Re: SX4 Diesel - Is it on the cards? Update: Now launched

@supremeBaleno - no offences here but, I was referring to astronomical price for a super turbo if there had been one on the SX 4 - D

For the naming part, I guess everyone is aware of the fact that it is the FIAT Multijet.

Thanks.

Interesting. More so the Toyota one.

Any more such interesting papers up your sleeve. Esp. on ABS. Have a lot of queries about bike ABSs.

Asked for a car for a day. Hope to write the report by this weekend. I may not have high expectations but hope I may be in for a surprise. I haven't driven one till now, not even for a short drive.

I doubt about waiting periods since I presume they would want to sell as many as possible before new Verna and Ford comes out. Magna too now comes in the same price ( for base version).

My colleague will get his car this weekend or early next as they have cars in stock ( for select colors, at Kottayam). And here at Trivandrum, they promise delivery within a month.

Now, I am confused. Do you think there is something called a Super Turbo?

^^^^^The company Woodward has a long tradition of manufacturing fuel injector systems for locomotives. In fact, their mechanical governors are still in use in diesel locomotives in Indian railways (now out phased out in favour of micro-controller based injection in newer ones)

Will take sometime to be used in automotive world

Re: SX4 Diesel - Is it on the cards? Update: Now launched

Read something like 14 secs from 0-100 for the new SX4 diesel, sadly that is a few micro secs slower than the Swift D. Not quite the way it should have been. SX4 should have been above all other Maruti cars in terms of performance, except SuKi (Kizashi) of course Even a 'super turbo' cant help ?

I know Maruti has no other choice but see VW. They have different level of engines for their hatchback and sedan. Clear discretion. Last thing an SX4 Diesel owner would want is to be overtaken by a Swift Diesel
