Any idea who is supplying the diesel engine for Honda? Did they develop it themselves? As far as I know, they are masters of petrol engines and diesel is a completely new segment for them (as far as development is concerned).

The same Accord with the same diesel heart is being sold here in South Africa. I spot one or two everyday here.

While the excitement of a diesel Honda is understannable especially in India, trust me all this will die down the moment Honda announces the price, if and when the Japs garner enough balls and common sense to launch it. The Germans will be looking forward to this, once launched it will make their products look like terrific VFM.

Honda has been developing their own diesel engines for close to a decade now. They are branded i-CTDi.

Oh come on now, you cant discount the fact that the Honda Accord is about as big as a Merc E Class or 5 Series from the inside.

Anyways it would probably be priced somewhere close to the Skoda Superb, which would make this a much better buy if your consider Skoda's after Sales Service (if it can be called that) and Honda's high reliability.

Without comparing the specs, I think the European version is nicer than the the American version - of course I am biased!

Better late than never! Honda at last realised that to survive in Indian market it need Diesel engine. But they need not one but may be 3. For City/Jazz, Accord and CR-V.

i-CTDi has been phased out quite sometime back in favour of iDTEC. Hope to see their 2.2l iDTEC in Accord & CR-V soon. It will be a bonus if they plonk it in Civic
