Some of the manufacturers and dealers are still debating as to who should bear the cost of reduced CENVAT for the cars which have left the plant are in transit or at the dealers godown. Companies with long pipeline find it difficult to reach consensus some of them I guess (Hyundai, Maruti, Toyota etc. have already done so) .

However, no news from Skoda and the likes. Issue is not whether to do it or not issue is about sharing the cost of the reduced VAT as the VAT would have already been paid at earlier rates for cars that left factories and yet not sold.

Anyway, just be patient- if dealers or car makers donot like to keep the cars in their godowns, they have to offer their best rates- its decemeber and they would like to sell off 2008 inventory asap.

BTW is Sonata CRDi AT still available? I guess long back it was discontinued- in that case, a discount of 44792/- on this model as shown in the post above is just notional.

The one way that companies can maintain same prices is to offset the lower CENVAT with higher factory price.

But why would any company do such a thing ? A move like that will be seen as challenging the Fin Min & the government.
That is what I said. Legally, they can still maintain the same realisations. But supply-demand precludes such a move.

@Bouncer - Sir, In my case I have booked the car, car had been allotted last week, and was in transit. When it reached the warehouse, made the downpayment, and got loan papers processed. On contacting salesperson, he says- since car has been invoiced already and despatched from factory to them - i might not get the cenvat reduction benefit. Subsequently, spoke to GM- they say since car has been already billed from the factory- It's a pending issue. Will come to know today morning. Keeping my fingers crossed.
One books the car and decide on particular piece is fine, thats still only a booking, but the invoicing in his name will be done only when 100% payment is received. And this invoicing in customer's name will happen at dealer point not at factory point. Factory will bill in dealer's name for transit purposes.

You say you made a down payment and processed loan papers. Is the disbursrment of loan done and payment reached to dealer? If not, you still might have a chance.

The disbursement draft is with the Finance DSA and he has not given it to the dealer as yet (upon my request). The issue is Sir, since spark is carrying a sizeable dealer discount approx Rs. 58000/- the company might reduce it and pass on the cenvat reduction. I hope you have come across this article sir- Auto cos may take Rs 1k crore hit-India Business-Business-The Times of India

30K cut for Cedia and 65K cut for Outlander I believe. The outlander prices were increased by 80K so this 65K drop has brought it back to old price almost. With this the CR-V is much more expensive than the Outlander I'm guessing since honda increased the prices by 1.5L.
