Spoke to a person from Ganges Ford (Kolkata) today and asked about the CENVAT reduction. He started with "You see all these major corporates anticipates these early and due to this Ford has already reduced the price". I had to be really rude to stop him and ask him to cut the crap. The bottomline is, Ford in NOT lowering price.

Not sure when VAT/CenVAT is paid, but I think that it is at the time of final sale. What gets paid at factory gate is the excise

IMHO its too much to ask for after the 1lakh reduction on the Fiesta offer price. Anyways most of the cars would be in transit or at the dealer so the CENVAT would not apply to those.

But the slaes man was completey bonkers there. Ford thought they will do the trick of under cutting the cost so as to clear their inventory.

Yes, I heard the news. But no information of reduction in car prices from Skoda. Is Skoda not passing the benefits to the car consumers?

Just saw this press release in ET Ford cuts prices up to Rs 54,000- Automobiles-Auto-News By Industry-News-The Economic Times
Not sure if it is on top of the current one, but from the mentioned figures it looks like. If it is on top of the current one, then it is very close to 1 lakh

Carmaker Ford India today said it has slashed the prices of its models by up to Rs 54,000, in response to the government's move to reduce excise duty.

The price of the company's premium hatchback 'Fusion' has been reduced by Rs 18,500, Ford India said in a statement. Likewise the mid-sized Fiesta's price was cut between Rs 21,000 and Rs 25,000, while that of sports-utility vehicle 'Endeavour' has been reduced by Rs 47,000-Rs 54,000. "We are supportive of the government's action on reduction of CENVAT and see this as a welcome move. This will bring some relief to the Indian automotive industry in general. With that in mind we will be passing on the benefit of the duty cut to our customers," Ford India President Michael Boneham said.

Just called Bhagat ford(Dealer for ford in Ludhiana). There is no change in ford ikon's pricing as the lady says that we had to increase the prices in the new year by around 15-20K, and now the prices will remain the same. So that is the benefit (4% cut in cenvat) being passed on to the consumer. I really am confused which smiley to add

This is really confusing in the from ford. One link in ford website shows ford fiesta zxi prices as 7.49 lakhs.

If you click on hot deals and see the price of fiesta zxi diesel it shows as 6.89 lakhs.

That is a straight 60K less.

What is the actual price?

The lower prices are for an offer going on upto December 12th. The actual prices still stay on the website. But I do not know if the 4% price reduction due to Cenvat cuts are reflecting online.

Read it in HT Business today- Skoda has also reduced prices by 12000- 51500/- depending on models. However, no confirmation received from dealers yet.
