OT : A similar arrangement has been set up on our Alto back home, on the remote locking system.

The ground clearance is mentioned to be 175 mm. This looks OK. It is not as bad as I had expected it to be. It could still scrap its underbelly, but when the humps are designed as mountains, there is only a little the manufacturers can do without affecting the handling in a major way.

Interestingly, this car has the capability to pamper the passengers as well as the driver; the passengers with all the luxury and the driver with its handling. ACI has given it a rating of 9/10 for handling, which means that it should be an above average handler. If Fiat were to pamper the driver further with 1.6 JTD and 1.4 Turbo, it could have been a sweeter deal.

But, I guess they have more or less got it right this time around. If they can make it competitive wrt the pricing, it will be great.

Sid - any news on pricing?
I thought the latest Overdrive test report said they are standard. But I could be wrong!
The same report also places the the most MJD Emotion at 9 L ex-showroom.

Sid: Any takes?

BH.

Wow Sid, you did it again

The feature list is just amazing and will put some of the C+ segment cars to shame. Hope they price it right, and launch it soon.

Nopes, next year maybe...

True, maybe junta doesn't care for BHP, but if the engine options had been 1.9 MJD and 1.4 Turbo Petrol it would've been magic. There's a tiny fly in the ointment.

I believe the 1.4 petrol Active version will be high 5.xx ex-showroom.
With Fiesta EXI being at 5.xx, Liena base petrol would be in the same price bracket.

It's good to see that FIAT has acted in right manner and responded to the general public sentiment prevailing in India and especailly in Mumbai.

Hope the FIAT would price it right to bring back customers to show room during this time of slowdown.

Sid, Thanks for sharing the info. Great find!

I think both engine options offered are optimum. Perfect!

These options are very carefully chosen considering the typical Desi consumer (who wants comfortable driving power but who weighs FE higher over power) and desi driving conditions. Had FIAT been on it's own they probably would have launched with 1.6 on both, but this where I think Tata guys have influenced positively.

Apart from other things I am sure Linea would beat Vernas/Fiestas in FE. Nice selling point. isn't it?

Roadside assistance is a big confidance booster. Partly takes care of A.S.S fears.

Service intervals are dream come true.

Could probably beat the Vernas, but I doubt whether it can beat the Fiestas. I am talking of diesels here. From what I know, Fiesta diesel's FE is great.

This letter shows how much the company is connected with the people of the country. I am owe my heart to them. They might have not lost anything, but their close business associates have (TATA) - Employees, family, friends and probably a reason to smile.

Mr. TATA, I am saddened beyond words. She'll be back, Taj would be back.

Mr. Rajeev, we are with you. Thank you for showing your commitment towards the members of this lovely country. It would have been easy for you guys to launch the car with much fan fare. Probably you would have succeeded as well. Just the way many news channels have forgotten the incident, people too would move on.

Thank you Fiat. My respect for the company has doubled.
