I voted for the Optra, only for its refined 'big car' feel..Second choice would undoubtedly be the Baleno.

Petra/ Siena 1.6

I am doing as much research as I can. I shall most probably get myself a Petra, which is the car I voted for. Very balanced ride. Little roll on curves, nice steady pick up. Perfectly arranged controls for the driver. My research is now on FE. If enough people tell me it returns at least 10, Petra It will be.

I think fiesta needs to be added in the poll too.... (that would make it more comprehensive)...

A car to really play with -> palio 1.6... simply unbeatable ....

My petra 1.6 gives me 12 in city and 16 on highway. thats because of free flow and still tweaks to ecu.earlier it gave 11 and 14 on highway

I agree. But I see a problem here. If I have already made a choice in favour of any other 1.6 lit car, I will not be able to make another choice in favour of Fiesta even if I want to. I really doubt whether it will give the appropriate pattern if something new is added at this time.

10 kmpl with or without air conditioning in a city like Mumbai is frankly unheard of.Mileage will most probably be between 7-9 kmpl, depending on traffic.I am sedate driver most of the times and I have never managed more than that on either of my FIATs-earlier 1.2 (euro3) or the S10.
I am strictly talking about everyday traffic situation where most of the 1.6 engined cars would give similar mileage. The Baleno seems to be the only exception,I dont own that car but met a few owners who were happy with its mileage in city.
Highway mileage is great though, managed 17kmpl from my S10 on Mumbai -Pune expressway with 25% a.c and a constant 60-80 kmh. From what I gather, you have a mix of highway and city driving everyday. So I guess 10 kmpl is what you can expect at the most(and not atleast).
As far as this thread goes,Palio-Petra 1.6 gets my vote too.Driving pleasure and overall dynamics are better than its competition- Ikon Flair,Esteem,Baleno,Accent or even the more expensive optra 1.6

I voted for Palio 1.6 GTX as a loyal owner. Fiesta 1.6 is a very good car and a good replacement to Ikon. To me, it would be on par with Palio in this thread.
