Recently went to Gwalior to watch Sachin create history (yes I was there and thank god and the cricketing god for it). It was a close to 480-490 km trip. MY SX4 which is now 2.5 years old and has done close to 30 K gave me a FE of close to 12kmpl but the car was doing close to 130-150 kmph most of the time.

The New VTT seems to be more fuel efficient. My ZXI is steady at 10.5 - 11. 5 kpl

I have a 1.5 month old SX4 ZXi VVT. I have done around 1300 KMs already. I get around 13-13.5 KMPL in Bangalore City with 30% usage of AC and around 17 KMPL on highway with 100% AC. I mostly keep the car within 80-100 KMPH speed zone.

I had posted this on another thread, but I think this one is more appropriate.

I have an SX4 VXi, 2009 Model with 14000 kms on the odometer. My FE is about 12kmpl with 60-70% AC in Bangalore. (I have the NON VVT engine)

I had maintained an excel with the FE details from day 1. Unfortunately, I lost the latest version in a hard disk crash.

Luckily, I was able to recover an older version from my mails.

Here you go...

Has anybody noticed any difference in FE between Shell and PSU petrol ? Whenever i fill up the tank at BP or HP, i generally get 1 or 2 km more than Shell. Driving conditions remain almost the same. Wonder what may be the reason
Or it could be just a coincidence.

Interesting,

Among the 10 odd people who voted SX4 mileage as 6-8, none of them own SX4 (At least from their signatures and garage information)..

Guys, the poll says.. What is YOUR SX4 mileage?.. why screw up poll results purely on your imagination, hearsay..

There are people who make the buying decision looking at some of these threads..

Please act responsible. This is a request for everyone who participate in polls or comment on threads.

Please comment purely based on your personal experience. I am seeing similar prejudices on TATA A.SS, Tata reliability, SX4 mileage, SWIFT Rattle or anything negative about any cars..

Please, please refrain from voting and commenting on what you have not experienced so far. Contribute on making team-bhp a credible, experience based source of information.

SX4 fuel efficiency

ARAI has certified a fuel efficiency of 15.6 for SX4.

This is same as Figo 1.2 Petrol and Tata Indica Vista Petrol. General feedback from these two cars are you get around 11-12 km/litre in city conditions.

Taking it as benchmark, we can assume 11 km/litre safely. Two of my friends own SX4 and this is the same ballpark figure I have heard from them.

Also, note that SX4 being big car has the same efficiency level of small hatchbacks!. That is very impressive..

For the record, Honda City has a certified mileage of 16.5 Km/litre from ARAI. at 1+ lakh more expensive than SX4, you need at least 25000+ km extra usage as compared to SX4 to get your initial cost back, purely from fuel efficiency.

I am not claiming SX4 is superior to Honda. but just making the point that it is a sensible car for India. (Higher ground clearance, decent mileage, all the safety features and all other bells and whistles)

I get about 12 to 14 kmpl in City. In highway I got about 15kmpl driving at a speed of 130-150kmph. I guess if I had driven it at 100kmph I could have got about 17kmpl.

I wanted to make a suggestion to the poll starter. Is it possible to include higher categories for the fuel efficiency? Currently the highest category is 11+ which might not give a correct picture unless people have gone through the discussion threads. Is it possible to include 11-13, 13-15 and 15+ as additional categories?

I get about 11 in Bangalore City traffic with 75% A/C. My daily office commute is just around 15 KMs and that could be the reason for a lower mileage compared to others.

Honda City was around 2.25 L expensive than SX4 when I bought it last year. I too felt SX4 as a sensible car for India

My office is just 2 Km.s from my home. I have to drive in 2nd and third gears only due to traffic conditions. No chance of even the 4 th.

With 100% ac on I am consistantly getting 10 Km/litre. When I go on highways it is between 13 and 14 Km/litre with 100% ac on. I have clocked around 4000 kms in the last three months since I bought it.

I still own a maruti 800 , 1996 model and it too gives a similar mileage. :-)

A 1600cc petrol car giving around 14 kms on highways is not bad at all. In city traffic the results vary.

I have been consistently been getting 7-8 in city & 10 - 11 on Highway. Would appreciate your views and what can be done to deal with the issue of poor average.

Re: What is the fuel consumption of your SX4 ( average kya hai)

I get about 9km/l in city driving (typically bumper-to-bumper traffic without any free stretches) and something in the range of 13 to 14.5 km/l on long drives, depending on the road conditions.

Hai There!

I have a 2010 July model Sx4. Have driven around 57,000 km till date in which long trips(Highway driving) is included such as DLI - Kanya Kumari via Mumba, Pune, Goa, Kerala Cape comorin, Begaluru and back to Delhi. Another trip that I undertook was Dli-Kolkata. Mostly my driving speed in the highway was at about 110 km with occasional burst of speed 170 km/ph The first trip included hill driving in Goa and Munnar. In both the trips I got an overall average fuel consumption of 12.60 km to a litre. I will not be able to tell the mileage figure for city drive condition as I use CNG for my local requirements. I get 22 km to kg of CNG Gas.

Note: I essentially and necessarily service the car from head to toe. I clean up the throttle body among other things during service. . I use mobil 1 synthetic oil for my engine. I would like to believe I get a better mileage due to above, but not sure of it.
