Doesnt look too different from a Versa. Would be interesting to see how the scale back from 1.3 to 1.2 affects passenger loading carrying capacity.
Maruti is obviously enjoying tax benefits which it is trying to pass on to the customer.
But that 4 lakhs price tag is still a shocker.

Okay. Found some images in the link mentioned in one reply above. Used photoshop to adjust the brightness levels and made it clearer than before. Hope it looks okay.

i dont see any changes in the bodystyle except the new graphix etc.

if this is the replacement for VERSA and not for OMNI
then i am utterly disapointed.

If the space utilisation is of high order, this vehicle has potential in the market. But what Maruti really needs is a diesel engine. Petrol people movers don't sell, all have bombed. The only reason the Omni sells is because of its rock bottom price....something that the eeco won't have the benefit of.

Launch this car with a Linea-spec 1.3 MJD, Maruti.

I never excepted such a scrap from maruti and It looks so outdated and I doubt whether this will sell even at 4 lakhs.

IMO, the CNG / LPG variants of this vehicle will be launched by maruti soon, to offset the diesel disadvantage.

Did it actually take 3 years of R&D for Maruti to bring out this piece of c**p?

This doesnt look any different from the existing Versa. As GTO said, if this car is launced with the 1.3 MJD, it could sell better. not so bright move from MSIL.

It is actually a remodled version of Suzuki every (versa's japanese equivalent) that was there till 2007. It looks crap, actually to me it is a versa with a minor facelifted front end, at least from the pictures. Lets see the thing in the flesh.

3 years of spending our money for this POS?
The first pic resembles the Tata winger.

It's nothing but the Omni, but with the Versa front-end and a different set of lights!! This is clear from the 4th picture showing the side profile. Just cover the front end (till the sideview mirror) and anyone will think that it's the Omni!!!

It looks like a cross-over of Omni, Varsa and Wagon R. Maruti has the potential to design a much better looking van than this. I guess Maruti is hitted badly by recession and paying less to their deginers and results are - Frog like head lamp and cramp boot in A-star, tail shape of Ritz and the new Eeco. Ha ha..

This is old wine in new bottle.
I never expected that much hyped EECO will be none other than facelifted versa!

we are in the 70's again!

I cannot even beleive that maruti is thinking about putting this car on sale. This car looks like its from the 70's.

Even if they put a fiat 1.6l engine, I wouldn't be interested in buying one! Seriously, this makes me feel sad that a leading Indian car company thinks that offering just a plain, bland, functional car is enough for Indians. But at the end of the day, I think it will sell decent numbers because of the maruti badge alone!

Maruti Eeco Specifications

Vicky.in updated the Eeco specifications. Seems the 1.2L engine makes only 73 bhp only as agains Ritz's 80+ bhp.
