But why? I think the Xylo makes for a good buy, except for its looks. And it is selling in some numbers.

Exactly. The car's so good that its selling despite its awkward looks. What I suppose they meant is that if it looked good, it would have been much more of a roaring success than the facelifted Innova, which was hardly a facelift at all.

i agree. i have sat in the xylo numerous times & i can very confidently say that (for families or long trips), the xylo is a much better buy than the scorpio. it has got loads of space & comfort. its much cheaper than the scorpio too. but still the scorpio outsells it easily! what could be the reason? i cant think of anything other than looks.

yea, for self driving, the scorpio is a better buy, the mHawk is an awesome engine. other reason could be the "image" of the scorpio.

we wont talk about brand here (mahindra v/s toyota) because if people were so conscious of the brand, even the scorpio (which costs 10+ lakhs) would not sell so much.

Well, I for one did not zero in on the Xylo for its looks. I can live with it.
Its a habit now folks keep ranting about the looks of the Xylo. You don't see how a vehicle looks when you are driving it.

The 'Thar' Adventure on display looks like another ' old hooker with over the top makeup' from the 'House of Horrors on wheels'. The GIO is their masterpiece.

Very true.

Problem is we see how a vehicle looks while signing the cheque. And that is an issue.

Apparently, Mahindra is trying to portray the Scorpio as an iconic brand. This explains the Coffee Table Book and the LE version.

The fact is that there are much more uglier looking vehicles in the segment where GIO is to play a role. Never the less for this segment of load carriers looks are least consiered. Looks of Gio doesnot take away sleep of mine

Nope Maggie, no updates or concepts at all. I think Mahindra currently has their development focus on the premium UV (Scorpio+ segment).

Absolutely right!
The bike is a Malaguti that is being ridden in the 125cc World Championship. A lot of design development has been done by an Italian firm called Engines Engineering. This firm has been taken over by Mahindra and hence the Mahindra stickers on it.
Infact, the Loncin Racing 125 MotoGP Team carried the Mahindra logos on their bike during the MotoGP.

Here is the exact same bike with trellis frame, et al in race colours. It was raced in the 2005 Championship.
