I usually never subscibe to mags.I go through all the mags in bits and pieces. But the ones i really like are :
1. Autocar - Damn informative and classy content.
2. Overdrive - Thier reports are kinda biased, but makes up for a good read.
3. Top Gear - Since its the first edition,i cant really comment. But it has a lot of professionalism blended perfectly with the casual approach.Typically TG.

Autocar India still is on the top of the charts...but may have some competetion with Top Gear coming into the market and with the same price tag as the former.

AutoCar - True Lies

Vol.7 No.5

Grime and Punishment
I happen to read this article and was much amused to how The People at Bike and Car Saloon managed to completely clean an Optra and make it just like new. I was impressed till yesterday. But today i happened to notice the cars number MH 43 A 3834. That seems to be a Vashi number and that too came around a year back. Wheras ACI says "The Guinea Pig: A sad looking two year old silver Optra. That means the car is a 2003 model. Heck that time even 1.6 engines werenot lauched. Correct me if i am wrong, and even if they were launched, the NY edition with the new grille only came by April 2005 after being around for sometime on the design edition model. What does this mean. This Optra isint a Two Year old peace. It just as new as a showroom one and the Car Sallon is trying to fool us and ACI says that super. What is your take on this
Cheers.

the same questions in my mind. The NY edition was out in early 2005 and this is definately NY because of the black leather seats.
Also MH 43 - xxxx was the norm till early last year and MH 43 A is around 9 -10 months old.
But the job looked amazing.

Lamborghini i feel they dirtied the car and then cleaned it? It cannot be more then 9 months old and a 9 months old car wont look that way, it surely was looking good they messed it and cleaned it to show their saloon.

Shame on ACI for publishing such crap and making people buy their magazine. If they had any sense of decency (I don't expect any), they should publicly apologise for this 'fixed' article and give a full return of money.

Great sleuth job, Busa... Keep it up!

One can understand a genuine mistake through oversight or carelessness caused by hurry.

This sort of deliberate rigging is unforgivable, and makes one doubt their credentials on everything else they preach to us.

and we thought only t.v reporters goofed up.... this is nuts...the ACI guys have ONLY cars to write about, and mistakes as grave as these are not expected of them. but then, the article was a sponsored one...

Good observation Busa! If this is true, and it seems to be, my respect for ACI just lowered a few notches.

Hey BUSA, maybe you should write to them and see what they say. Or if it gets printed. That would give them a chance to explain and redeme themselves.
