Vento Vs Skoda-sample will be the same battle on services.
Also at same time, its also possible, that VW may roll out Golf.

Old Indica and Indigo CS - Same front
Vista and Manza - same front
Linea and Punto - same front
Old Superb and Octavia I - same front
Fabia - Laura 09 - Superb - 08 - similar front
Polo - Vento - same front

Considering this new Skoda Ocativia being similar to it's family looks is quite natural.

While i agree on most other cars but Punto and Linea have entirely different face, everything from lights to grille to bonnet length to profile is different. Yes they are based on the same platform and share most of the mechanicals.

We still do not have any scoop/spy pictures to compare the similarity to other VW and Skoda cars so lets not speculate and drag the thread offtopic.

^^ Even the price tag will be smaller. Please note the new Skoda Sedan will now compete with smaller cars like Verna, Fiesta, Vento etc, while the Octavia was positioned in the segment of bigger cars like Corolla and Civic. Now since Skoda is slowly launching cheaper priced variants of the Laura to compete with like likes of Civic and Altis, the Octavia either has to go or it needs a price cut.

If you have tracked the prices of Laura, over the time Skoda has dropped the prices of lower variants, they have introduced the TSi variant at lower price than the TDi variants. Now even the base Ambiente TDi can be bought with a DSG AT box+ 140bhp engine, Earlier only L&K Variant was available with AT DSG, Later AT was introduced in lower variants but they came with a less powerful engine.

Now there is no news of any new cheaper variants coming but after the launch of Altis D(Though with just 85bhp to fool us) Skoda will definitely come up with some new offers. They have already upgraded the warranty package.

Very very Unlikely, VW already have a sedan based on Golf, The Jetta. A Hatchback in the price range of 10+ lakhs will not be accepted by masses here.

Thats my theory as well. But I really hope, they unleash the GTI rocket!
But very doubtful.

Moral: No Bigger and powerful Hatches for India.

Only hope is they bring on the lower displacement TSI options to sedans and hatches.
That should eventually happen. But when is the question.

The original pic could be of a model, but there was a showcar of the concept shown in 2006.

Here is one more PS job, with a thicker c pillar and a bigger boot.

Got a call from local Skoda dealership in blore today and they asked about an enquiry i made months back for a Skoda. I enquired about the Octavia replacement and they confirmed something new is coming up in next 3months in the same name but the vehicle seems entirely new.
