Yes... my point was that all the Swifts, etc, though sellers and buyers call them hot --- are not.

Polo: first hot hot hatch

Polo: first hot hot hatch
After the Fiat Palio 1.6 and the Hyundai Getz 1.5 crdi (arguably a hot hatch but dosent have as good handling as a european car).

By any chance, does your friend work in Bagmane Tech Park (not naming the company)? Saw a white polo 1.6 in my company parking yesterday.

The Polo 1.6 is all about performance ..so anybody got the performance numbers for the 1.6.

I guess there is no point in going by what is claimed by VW.. they claim a 0-100 time of 14.2 secs for the Polo 1.2 whereas in reality it is close to 167.7-16.8 secs ( All the auto mags which praise the Polo to the hilt and declare it as the best hatch also have the same numbers, so can't believe all auto mags include autocar, bsm have reported wrong numbers).
If VW claims 11.1 secs for the Polo 1.6, I guess the real world time will be close to 12.5-13 secs, which will be marginally better than something like a Swift!
Somehow, I have a feeling that this 1.6 engine from VW is not that great. If it is anywhere near as good as the 1.5 of the Honda city, the 0-100 times should have been close to 10 secs, which definitely does not look like to happen!
All said and done, it is still going to be the fastest hatch in the country today and a much better bet than the Polo 1.2!

Keep in mind this is the same engine that was offered in the Jetta during launch in 08 and received a lot of brickbats from enthusiasts.

This one is the BS4version. Its an iron block, 8-valve and fairly low revving unit.

However Jetta is at least .5 ton heavier than polo. So P:W would be much better. Performance would also be much better.
