Hello All - Just got a call from the dealer. The car is in transit !! - almost didn't believe here. Asked her thrice, and she confirmed with a sheepish smile I guess. Wheww, what a wait this has been. Will keep you all updated as things proceed further.

Will print out the PDI checklist. Please do let me know if there is anything in specific that I may want to check for the i20 CRDi.

Cheers !

Trick to get delivery faster - See if it works for you

Guys, just wanna share a trick with you. My friend did this with Maruti Dzire Diesel. See if this works for you while you are waiting for your cars

My friend wanted to buy a car. He was impressed with my Dzire (Mine is Vxi though). So he booked the Zdi model as he wanted diesel. He was told that it will take at least more than 3-4 month for the delivery. He said nothing. After around one month of booking, he went to the dealer & said he cant wait more & he wants his money back. He is gonna buy a Fiesta with that money which is readily available. Now the SP he interacting with was very nervous and said not to cancel the booking. My friend said he is in urgent need of car & cant wait for months. SP said he will try to do something for him. After one day he told my friend that he will manage something for him.

What a surprise. He managed to give the car to my friend within 15 days after all this happened. My friend was very happy. He didn't told this to anyone outside but being my very old friend he told me this inside story. He said dealer did this just to not loose the customer.

I really like my friend's idea. What about you?

But I want to know something, I have already submitted the Form 20 and handed over to them, now in case I am not satisfied with the PDI, do I have a chance of getting the car replaced?

@arpanjha - I've managed to make a few phone calls to the top people at Hyundai and managed to get the engine number and chassis number last Friday after they intervened. They have confirmed that the car takes about 4-5 days to come to Pune (Can anyone confirm this ?)

@aniketi - I've done that as well, lolz !. And it still didn't make the dealer budge. Had to create a few contacts to get things moving.

@GTO - Any GTO style reviews for the i20 CRDi in the offing ?

I've read through every single i20 CRDi thread on T-BHP. It would have been a monumental task to wait this long without the support of all of you.

I can barely wait now !.

Cheers

Bad news......now the Bank guys are not ready with the D.O. as they say the interest rates have been revised and they are trying to get my loan done on old interest rate(which was lower) as it had been processed earlier than the new rates came out. So I guess I will have to wait till next week for taking the delivery......

How to deal with waiting period ?
By changing the car !!!

We had booked an Estilo for my in-laws on 26-Aug. Even after 3 weeks, the car still had not left factory - it seems they had every color other than the black we wanted.

The 3 weeks gave us time to rethink our options and since FIL is kinda new to driving, we decided it would be better to go for an AT car. So Estilo cancelled and booked A-Star AT. Ofcourse, another waiting period of min 25 days applies for A*-AT. :-)

to be honest I some how don't approve of your friend's idea. to start with it's kind of unethical. I am sure the SP must have bumped someone else's car just to save his sale.
I would really be pissed if a dealership gives the car for me to someone else!

the entire idea of waiting to buy a car is alien to me. are we back in those maruti/fiat/amby days where we had to book a car and wait for it for years?? (months in our case)

waiting for a car to be launched is something different, but waiting for a car which is already aplenty in number on the roads is something weird. I would either buy a car which is available in 10-15 days than wait for a car for 3-4 months.
just in case you have to, I think suggestions by GTO are great - you can also work extra hard, bump up your budget a bit and go for some other car which is easily available.

How to deal with waiting period?

Having booked a Vento unofficially few days after its launch, every day feels like a year. A few exciting days went by when the price was launched and later again when GTO's reviews turned up.
Confirmed the booking in mid august. But still have no date yet!

I tried my level best to plunge it at work and forget about Vento. But it was becoming impossible.
I then tried to hunt for accessories like music system, which actually made the wait intolerable. Hence stopped that as well.

Finally, voluntered for a month's business trip to UK and here I am for the last few days.
Its been great so far to meet up with old friends here and to forget about Vento for the timebeing.
Of course, still keeping upto date with Team-Bhp.

Booked a White i20 CRDI Asta on 7th of July and today I am running on the 51st DAY!!!. Dealer has now given the deadline as 10th of September.
Now the latest news from Hyundai is that they are increasing the price by 1.5% from 1st of September, Dealer has called up asked to submit the DD for the entire amount before end of August.

I've stopped counting days! I feel dejected, depressed, fooled and trapped now! :(

Ford guys are still calling me and offering a ready delivery of Figo Titanium.

Really don't know what to do..
After 79 DAYS of waiting, Finally my baby is here!!!

My dad is "right now" in the showroom doing the remaining paperwork. He confirmed that she looks like an angel in the showroom after a good shower and polish job!

Me bery beri Heppi!

I had booked a RE CL350 last month - promised delivery was for after 6-8months. Changed the color today and guess what.. the countdown clock was reset. Delivery is now just another (pain)full 8 months away.. ONLY!!

All threads on the subject(CL350) exhaustively read. Other models from the same stable, past & present, also thoroughly () studied. Have been to all the showrooms in the city. test drived fore-mentioned model a few times.... what next?!!

Booked a Safari LX one month ago, and still nothing has happened. (Though sales guy had said not more than 10-12 days for delivery). Meanwhile, I stretched my budget and told them to get a EX and not LX.

Still waiting, each day keep thinking about it.. waiting for that elusive call from the dealer.... phew...

God willing,, hope to get it by Diwali atleast... or hristmas if not? Or Pongal next year?
What the heck.. I'm frustrated beyond words...
