BTW, Santa Fe has 0-100 kph figure of 9+ seconds compared to 13+ seconds of Fortuner.

I never know that Santa-Fe is more superior to TFORT. In all aspects except engine pickup (Straight line) Santa Fe scores over a TFORT. It is just the pricing thats ruining Santa Fe. I wish they price it lower / on par with TFORT.
Well, such a comparison would be valid for 90% of SUV buyers, but not for all. What is the point in comparing a body on frame 4WD with low range like the Fortuner with a BMW station wagon (X1) and the other cross-overs?

Would an X1 even dare to tread where a 4WD goes? Why would a 4WD tall vehicle try to/ have to corner like an X1 and commit suicide?

This comparison is for folks who think 'hey, have 25L, which SUV to buy?' rather than those who know that they want a fast crossover, or a 4WD with low range.

Totally Agree. Instead of X1 they should have probably thrown in the Pajero. X1 cannot be called an SUV even by the remotest of probablities. The only reason why its called an SUV is that X5, X3 are full size SUVs, so by the same naming convention, its called an SUV.

Santa Fe is real value for money but I think its a little overpriced. If it was priced similar to fortuner at the very least, It should have seen some better sales.

You're absolutely right. While there are some people who know what they're doing when they're looking for a car, several don't. We enthusiasts and those who make informed decisions generally dwell into minute details and make sure that we make the right decisions. We weigh our options based on what our priorities are.

But there are several people out there who have a spare 30 lakhs in the bank for a car and they don't really think twice about which car is in which segment. They're the sort of people who would like a list of cars between 20-30 lakhs and want a comparison, however different the cars are from each other.

And I believe that such a comparison is for such such people.

Re: Hyundai to launch Santa Fe EDIT: Now launched

Hey anyone has any clue about when will the new Santa Fe be launched in India? Further will Hyundai assemble the new Santa Fe in India to ensure that the vehicle could be sold in India at a very competetive price? Will the 5 seater variant will also be sold in India? Any other information is most welcome. Thanks all.

Expect the Fluidic Santa-Fe to hit b Diwali 2013. Not earlier. There are no plans for a 5 seater Santa Fe but there is a plan for IX-45 / Fluidic Tucson in 15-17 lacs category.

Re: Hyundai to launch Santa Fe EDIT: Now launched

Read in one of the websites yesterday that the new Santa Fe has been launched in US, people who have good contacts at Hyundai India may be able to find out when it will be launched in India. Isnt it still a CKD, if yes may be the next lot they get can be the new Santa Fe.

Here is the link to the new Santa Fe, must admit looks breath taking.

I expect at least one year going by trends of Sonata in the USA. If this is brought into india, Expect prices to start at 25 lacs ex-showroom(Minimum)

I like this SUV more that the current avatar.

It is a CKD but even CKDs have to undergo ARAI certification and testing. It is really a long process and even for big companies, it would take an year.

Its just priced. Not yet launched (Expected in Jan 2013). They have only released pricing for Santa Fe Sport which is a 5-seater version. Prices for 7-seater are awaited and looking at the current trend it will be a little bit expensive than current one and a little bit expensive than 7-seater Veracruz which is going to be stopped and Santa Fe will replace it.

I don't see the India launch happening until next diwali even if they hurry.

On a side note. It looks pretty good and is a quite a bit unique for its segment and the one that it replaces.

Hyundai commences testing of Fluidic Santa Fe

Quote:

The fluidic Santa Fe will be launched in early 2013. Our source informs us that the car has just landed on Indian shores and the Korean automaker will commence testing the same right away. All those living in Chennai should keep an eye out for the fluidic SUV, which might soon be seen with mild camouflage.
Not creating a new thread since its more of a rumour

Short wheelbase is still supposed to be longer then the current vehicle, so it must be fine.

Re: Hyundai to launch Santa Fe EDIT: Now launched

ACI have reported that the Fluidic Santa Fe will be launched in India around mid-2013-

http://www.autocarindia.com/News/320...-mid-2013.aspx

Unfortunately, we will get the smaller wheelbase version (5-seater), with a 2.2L diesel mill producing 194bhp. Moreover, the SUV could be priced in the range Rs.24-25 Lacs.

They will be bringing the short wheel base 7 seater to India. Guess you missed that part in the ACI link :-)
