Looks quite odd :-(
But India loves sedans... so lets see if this is what we finally get.

That boot is definitely not upto my taste.

If the sedan comes with a 1.6 baleno engine or the 1.5 125 bhp engine, its goodbye not only to the esteem ,but also the BALENO!!

I dont know how many people are aware of this, but pur Esteem was being sold as Swift in many countries for many years, So may be this gentleman is referring to the esteem & not the Current Swift(which is currently same everywhere). I guess it should be Liana.

Well I think the boot though odd, seems to be fitting well with swift. But surprisingly the sedan was not displayed at the just concluded Tokyo Motor Show. The only new thing about swift there was the SPORT Version which probabaly will not make it to our shores any sooner

Swift Sedan

I have only one word for the rumored sedan version of the Swift in the picture - YUK!!. Whoever thinks of creating a booted version of the Swift better be damn creative cos i just can't figure how you can tack on a good looking boot to the Swift hatchback....but then thats what designers are for. So lets see...

Drive on,
Shibu.

I would sell my current Swift if something as ugly as that hits the Indian roads. It looks like a streched out freak

After seeing the limp reaction to the Palio 1.6 and the Accent Viva, I doubt this will happen......but then

The boot looks like that of a vintage car!
Current hatchback Swift looks far better.

It seems that during initial design of the car they had no plan to introduce boot - it's an afterthought.

Probably same thing happened when Indigo was introduced

Indica + extended boot = Indigo

I refuse to be seen with such a horrible looking car .. and I thought the Honda City rear was the ugliest ! I'd still buy the Baleno any day.

ummm....IMHO, that pic is a definite photo-job.....a swift sedan IS on the cards, but it's gonna be on a world-wide platform, not a just-for-india kind of thing. the sedan is expected sometime mid 07', but i'm guessing suzuki might just do something sooner; somehow, after seeing the hatch and the 06' vitara, i trust suzuki to amaze us again...

see this http://hvtm.totalcar.hu/index.php3?ID=9000&carID=1872
another version of the same snap... so we better expect MUL or suzuki do a better job than this one..

Maruti to launch sedan version of Suzuki Swift

Maruti to launch sedan version of Suzuki Swift
Maruti has had an amazing response from the Indian customers for their Suzuki Swift vehicle. The car is having a waiting period running in months. So much so, that they are now on the verge of losing customers because they cannot deliver their vehicles on time! Waiting customers to earlier posts on this site have shown frustration at the dealer’s response to the delivery of their vehicle.
However, Maruti has more plans for their vehicle as it beat out the competition in terms of sales. The company has reportedly decided to leverage the popularity of this cute looking car with a sedan version planned for next year. The three-box version should give Maruti a vehicle to replace or compliment their Maruti Esteem model, which has taken a beating in the recent times to competition from Tata Indigo and Hyundai Accent.
The move is interesting because the timing of the launch of this new vehicle is expected to coincide with the launch of a brand new 1.3-liter diesel engine the company is developing along with Fiat. This engine would give Maruti a huge advantage in the segment to compete against Tata Indica Diesel and Hyundai Accent CrDI with diesel engines on Swift and Swift Sedan.
Tata alone controls almost 80% of the sales in this diesel market and Maruti at this moment has no diesel car to offer ever since the new pollution norms kicked in. that made Maruti discontinue their Maruti Zen Diesel and Esteem Diesel variants to cut costs. The company is also planning an updated model based on their Wagon R.
With many more cars coming in this segment like Mahindra & Mahindra-Renault’s Logan, Chevrolet Aveo and Spark and Toyota-Daihatsu’s Passo or Sirion, it becomes important for Maruti to stay prepared for everything.
