Haven't noticed any vague feedback at high speeds.

Not an expert here but I guess tyre pressure at 33, which will further rise on high speed drive, could be the culprit.

I understand, it should be in the range of 29-32.

Should the steering @120kph, feel that way? kindly confirm
The correct tire pressure when cold for 195/65 R15 is 32 psi for fiat Grande punto..

Higher pressure will result in steering play as contact patch decreases..

i have driven Ikon for a fair distance and high speeds, but not the punto.
i could only manage 80kph when i drove Punto, hence i would be the wrong person to comment.

Why not drive a fellow bhpians/showroom test drive punto and get the feel.

But vague steering feel at speeds of 120kph in punto is unheard of.

I have a relative who never exceeded 80kph in his Santro, ever since he bought a Punto he has been regularly driving in region of 120-130kph, he is 58 years old.

Does the road really matter as well, becasue i do drive & test frequently in one particular road where i commute everyday on my way back from office where i touch 90kph and feel alright about the steering.

The 120kph speed run was a NH road with some up and downs and a new stretch, i could feel the undulations of the road felt in steering, i may be wrong here, where as the regular commute i take from office everyday i dont feel the same, should the road surface be the culprit here?

Re: Steering Feel & Feedback - Your Nominees for the Best & the Worst!

I had a fiesta, but back then I had very little know how of a good steering unit like aam indian driver. Now i can realise how good the unit was comparing it to the ones on which i have put my hands recently.

Also MOMO steering wheels used in gaming is pretty good too.

i10 has been worst for me till now.

Re: Steering Feel & Feedback - Your Nominees for the Best & the Worst!

Fiat Palio has an awesome steering feel. It behaves exactly as I want it to. I own a SX4 too and I must confess the steering feel of that is pathetic. It is a struggle for me to drive that car. May be the fiat has spoilt me.

Among other cars that I have driven, Innova and Indica Vista had good steering feels. The feel with Santro and Swift is very ordinary. I drove a Fiesta (Classic) for about 100 odd kms once and found it's handling to be very pleasing.

Re: Steering Feel & Feedback - Your Nominees for the Best & the Worst!

Of all the vehicles I drove. I nominate Fiat Punto, Ford Fiesta and Ford Ikon for the cars with the best Steering feel and feedback.
All these cars performed with the best steering precision and absolute absence of steering vagueness at speeds unto 120km/hr.

For the worst feel and feedback I nominate Hyundai I10, Hyundai Accent, Swift Dzire, TATA Indigo. These cars gave me either very low or absolutely no steering feedback after speeds of 90-100km/hr.

Re: Steering Feel & Feedback - Your Nominees for the Best & the Worst!

Have driven so many cars, when comes steering feedback, My vote goes for Fords (Figo, Fiesta, Ikon) nothing mathches it.

For Vague feel, i would say Hyundai's EPS, compare to it Maruti's are way better.

When i drove A4, to my surprise i felt the steering is veryy dull, weighs up well but definetly not sharper.

+1. Bolero would either go left or right but won't go straight. It is a full time job to keep the vague steering straight which needs constant adjustments. Try to take your eyes off for a moment (I mean it) and you would realize how close you came to hitting that divider
