@ GTO: I suggest you use your City or Indigo. It will help if your car has proper windows. Your navigator will need to answer the marshals at various check points. Power windows are a boon.

What?! And lose my competitive advantage? While you guys will be encountering signals & traffic, I'll be cruisin' on the beach.

Just kidding. One of the organisers was when I told him of my (effectively) 2 seater Jeep. Maybe I'll get the Benz.

GTO,

I am taking delivery of a new Alto on 27th of this month. I am sure I will not get a better event for my car to participate in so early.

I am going to participate for the first time. Hence I am a little nervous and also unaware of the rules. Can you help me out with it.

Heman,

Have you had a look at the three opening posts & the two attachments (PDF files)? They pretty much cover everything you would need to know. Think of this event as a relatively relaxed drive (again, NO RACING) where a visually impaired navigator (from the NAB) will be your guide. He will sit in the passenger seat, and two of your relatives / friends can take the back seat. You have to follow his directions, cross certain checkpoints and stick to the correct route. Focus on precision rather than speed. Expect approximately 50 kms of driving. Flag off is at 8 a.m. and cars are expected to complete the route and report back to NAB by 11 a.m. - Noon.

May I take you as confirmed? Varying speeds guaranteed, thus good running-in for your new engine too

Thanks! My initial prediction was 20 confirmations, and I'd be happy. We are already at 28. That's like 30% of this charity drive filled with BHPians

I called Vishal up yesterday and i am going to fill the forms today. I will be co-navigating with Varun a.k.a. MichealSchume. Im not driving this year as last time, Varun Co-navigated with me in theLHD. And we managed coming last as had around 200 penalty points or so..

My advice to all from last year, HAve lots of fun, Dont drive very fast and wave out to all who wave at you.

Another thing. In case a teambhpian gets lost on the way..Which is very posible, lets have a phone number lst sothat we can keep in touch.

EDIT:Welcome back Jig Jig!!

Spoke to Ankit yesterday:

Some of you may have the same questions as me, so I'm posting them here for everyone's benifit:

Q: Is it possible for me to skip Saturday's briefing and come directly on sunday? (I work on Saturday's - in Pune - so would have been hard)
A: Not really. Saturdays events include the pairing with your Navigator, a dummy run, explanation of rules and regulations. Making it on Saturday is very important

Q: The form asks for names of co passengers. Can they be changed / added at the last moment?
A: Yes, names can be entered on the day of the event. So if your girlfriend decides to bring along a friend at the last minute, she can join you.

Q: Can I scan & e mail the forms?
A: Preferably courier them, since they need hard copies. Printing them at their end will be an added task for them.

Q: If I have a last minute hiccup and can't bring the car thats details are entered in the form, is it OK if I drive another one? (Those who know me well will understand why this is a valid question :-( )
A: Sure, just make sure you carry copies of the car's papers with you when you come for the rally.

Yup - that's about it. Putting in my request for a leave on Saturday and sending in my form!

You can add me to the list: Suhail - Ford Ikon 1.6
