[quote=john a milne;1710629]I had a call today from the Bhutan Consulate to say being a foreigner I needed a visa.
No luck, even though they contacted the the head of the department in Bhutan. It usually takes 5+ days to process. Wonderful sincere concerned personal but the system just isn't set up to move that quickly.

Foreigners(Apart from Indians) be prepared to apply for the visa at least 2 weeks before so that you can get an ensured Visa in time.

Flag-off from Siliguri, 7:30 a.m. Feb 4, 2010

I was able to meet up with Saurabhda, Joseph just before flag-off this morning (7:30 a.m). from Savin Kingdom.

Took a few pictures.

There were mostly Esteems. Stopped an A-Star, A Santro, A Hilux (all Bhutan plates), a couple of Tucsans (again Bhutanese).

Our team Black Hawk is allowed to have the film on the door glasses but not on the front and rear windshield so they have removed it from the rear windshield.I believe the event is going really great.

1st Leg

I understand that the first leg was very difficult with at least two cars out.
I think they were #25 from Calcutta with a burned out clutch and the women's pickup from Bhutan with a broken clutch.

Anyone hear any more news?

I saw the Hilux pick-up going on the Sevoke road (towards Sevoke) and it was going at a pretty lazy speed ...felt it might have had problems right at the start (or before).

Hey guys just spoke to my dad and got an update from him.The rally was over yesterday and the results are out.I only know who won the rally he is none other than Arindum Ghosh.I am not sure if our team Black Hawk won anything or not.All the cars have run out of tyres so JK will be helping them. But thats it for now. They will be heading back tomorrow so by this week i am sure joseph and saurabh will update us.

Cheers for now.

Rally

Sparky,

Thanks for the information, I'm sure Bumpu will have lots to share when he gets back over a few drinks and I'm so looking forward to speaking with Joseph for his perspective.

I found an article on the Bhutan web-site, Google "Kuensel newspaper" covering the second day of the rally and would expect they will have one on the whole event.
