Maruti is planning to launch a Mazda SUV soon. May be that's what your friends are talking about?

New SX4 is only being developed. I doubt they would involve suppliers at this stage.

There is a thread on CX5. It has been spotted testing, and inside Maruti's facilities as well. Furthermore, the test cars were driven by guys with Maruti Suzuki badge.

Sorry, i missed that maruti link to mazda. Thanks for the info. Imo, maruti may be testing cx5's diesel engine to use in their vitara or kizashi, which are hugely suffered because of the lack of diesel variants. It is highly impossible maruti to introduce cx5 diesel when their vitara performs poorly in the indian market. As some one mentioned, maruti may build the cx5 for mazda, but in turn get their diesel engine for vitara and kizashi.

Unable to remember the source but I have read that Suzuki has been able to get hold of 1.6 Multijet for upcoming SX4 replacement. Lets hope that this engine makes way to India.

The SX4 is already offered in 1.6, 1.9 and 2.0 liter diesel variants in foreign countries. So I dont think its much of a difficulty for them to make it to India. The only concern will be the price though.

You are right.

Automotive News Europe confirms FIAT's licensing to Suzuki the 1.6MJD. This engine happens to pump out around 102-105 Ps and 300+odd Nm of torque. It's available as an option for the Turkish built Linea's.

If Maruti can localise the S-Cross to a high degree, shove in the 1.6MJD and manage to price it even at Rs 12-13 lakhs it should give sleepless nights to the Duster's, XUV's and Safari Storme's

In the press release,Suzuki say that will feature much more dynamic styling than we see in Japanese’s car. with bold lines and plenty of LED detailing likely to feature on the car.The car will offer drivability which encompasses gentle, fuel-saving driving and sportier driving.Expect a low fuel consumption and confirm to be one of cleanest (CO2 emissions) and largest luggage areas in the crossover c-segment.The car also feature latest i-AWD system that will have alot improve on performance and efficeintcy

1.9 and 2.0 Diesels are no doubt Multijet but the 1.6 unit is a Ford TDCi motor
(same motor from which Indian Fiesta's 1.5 TDCi has been derived). This time Suzuki is going to replace 1.6 TDCi by a 1.6 Multijet.

Suzuki Europe plans not less than 5 new model offensive by 2016,Production version of S cross will reveal by march 2013 but next generation Splash will be postponed.

S cross concept of compact crossover will debut in form of production version at march’s 2013 Geneva motor show.

Rumor is talking that Suzuki planing a sedan version of this car for India and eastern Europe.Main production base still be in India.Launch date may postpone form first haft of 2014 to second haft of 2014 (Around Fall in Europe) because that current Alto is still get good response in Europe and they have launch it not very close to the S cross.

In 2015 they plan a new crossover (May be 2 crossover in differrent segment)and they also say that compact hatchback is in Suzuki’s long term strategy
