Agree completely with the first statement, but the second one is debatable, IMO. I20 is one or two segment below the new SX4 shown here.

The problem with launching this new car as SX4 in India (most probably in a segment above the current one) is that people may not want to buy a 'costlier' SX4. Maruti has to price it on par with current one, or, brand it differently and target the more upmarket SUV buyers.

Maruti's SUV range can be as follows:

XA Alpha in 5 - 7.5L range
Current SX4's hatch version at 6.5 - 9L
New SX4 SUV at 8 - 11L

Re: 2013 Maruti Suzuki SX4 facelift SPIED!

That SX4 crossover is a potential Giant Killer, a Game Changer! I think Suzuki should get it to India just as we see in these pics. No stick-on boot to this please. Then we can see Duster and EcoSport taking a deep breath to fight back which will be good for the customer.

OT - Ford stands to lose terribly if it doesn't launch EcoSport soon and Suzuki launches this, say even a couple of months after the former's entry into the market. Time is ripe dear Ford, don't delay!

Wow .. Please Maruti. Launch this car for us in India. It will be hit for sure. It will be poor mans X1 or CRV. This car has serious potential to be successful in India in launched correctly with right choice of engines and right price. I guess this car needs at least 1.6 liter engine in both Petrol & Diesel with power like more than 100 horses. It will make car very suitable in Indian conditions. If they price it in 10-12 L price bracket, they can get many customers for sure

At 4300mm, the new SX4 is 165mm longer than the current car( EU version)
The SX4 will be the first Suzuki model to offer a 1.6-liter diesel engine sourced from Fiat.

The older version used JTD 1.9 from the same family. 1.6 is meant to replace 1.9. Offers similar performance but better FE.

Re: New 2013 Suzuki SX4 spyshots. EDIT : Unveiled on Page 4

To cash in on the current craze for urban SUVs, Maruti should seriously look into launching the S-Cross. They can do without the 4WD for India, especially if the 1.3L 90HP Fiat Multijet is employed, as a more powerful 120BHP 1.6L Multijet motor in offered other markets. Considering how much the SX4 sedan weights (1225-1245 kgs), the 1.3L 90 BHP Multijet might be a bit under-powered for the S-Cross. But if priced competitively, could become popular.

Though it is supposedly over 4.3 metres in length and can't avail the small car excise benefit, it seems a good size with a boot space of 430 litres* (vs 346 litres for the Ford EcoSport). Also since its longer than the Eco Sport, I'm assuming there should be a bit more room for passengers in the 2nd row.

Suzuki SX4 S-Cross Receives 5-Star Euro NCAP Rating!

Quote:
The SX4-S -Cross performed notably well on its pedestrian protection and passenger protection, the latter thanks to Suzuki’s new Total Effective Control Technology (TECT), which was developed for occupant-protecting impact absorption.
The SX4 confidently reached five stars and very good in 92 percent of occupant protection. For child protection, the testers awarded 80 percent. Despite its SUV form it submitted to the pedestrian safety for 72 percent, safety systems were valued at 81 percent.

Cheers!

Re: New 2013 Suzuki SX4 spyshots. EDIT : Unveiled on Page 4

I for one do not find it a looker. The stance is confused. It neither small SUV nor a lifted up hatchback aka Polo Cross(not the India one). With competition like Ecosport coming in a lot cheaper (assuming its priced at 10 lakhs) I do not find many takers.

Re: New 2013 Suzuki SX4 spyshots. EDIT : Unveiled on Page 4

It is coming with a 1.6 diesel with standard turbo, the acceleration punch is good, handles well, stable at 130kmph speeds, the max I could do, starting price expected at 7L.
