Old but proven M series petrol engine will use in production version of S cross as newly developed engine not ready until 2015.

The Suzuki M series petrol engine has been launched since 2001 when it debuted in LIANA/Aerio sub compact hatchback and sedan that replace Suzuki Baleno.The M series is a modern engine with DOHC- dual overhead cams,16 valves, multi-point fuel injection (MPFI) and got VVT-variable valve timing or even Dual VVT in some variant.

This engine consist of 1.3 liter displacement that use in Jimny,2nd generation Swift and Ignis,1.5 liter in 2nd generation Swift,Japannese spec SX4 and early life cycle of European SX4.The 1.6 liter M16A that widely use in Suzuki car range from SX4, Liana, Grand Vitara (3door), Suzuki Swift Sport version and Fiat Sedici and the M18A 1.8 liter in SX4 that sell in China.

That really looks nice.
If brought to India, with the MSIL after sales, the Duster and the likes would be huffing and puffing.
Although, Ertiga doing good, its unlikely to see this one here in the near future.

This Vehicle looks much better than the spy shots in the first post of this thread. I would imagine this could be a strong contender in its segment. If they put those kind of looks and feature set on the sedan version it could make a much better proposition Vs. City/Verna I feel as well.

Suzuki, pls pls launch this. My SX4 is up for replacement next year and if this is launched at 10L OTR for the petrol top end, it will be a serious contender in my shortlist (the other being the Ecosport)

I think Maruti would be silly not to launch this car. The Ertiga and Swift are prime examples of good looking Suzukis being lapped up in India. The crossover/min suv market is booming in India and this car has enough to give the Duster a fight. Certainly looks more manly than a Ecosport. With the facelifted SX4 launch being around the corner, this may not arrive in India anytime soon though. Pity Pity.

the ground clearance doesn't seem to be as much as ecosport. Hope I am wrong, as this is a dead ringer for a bad roads tourer.

Also, I really hope they don't try to tack on a boot to this.

IMO, they have toned down the concept a lot while developing the actual car. But looks nice, anyway.

Also, many people thought that S-Cross would sit above SX4, but now it replaces SX4. What will happen to Indian version?

The current version is just getting a minor facelift. So it is more of a temporary revival. Looking at how quick the swift was launched after its international launch, I expect this to come by 2014. Of course, this will be replacing my curremt sx4 in case we aren't going up a segment.

The more i see this, the more i love it. I have had a wonderful ownership ovr the last 4 years with my SX4ZXI and i sincerely hope MSIL launches this as a crossover in india and not a sedan- Also, hope to see the 1.6 VVT petrol as well in it since that engine is a pure gem! (im one of those few people who are not too enthused by the 1.3ddis in the SX4- that engine is a complete mismatch with the car. i love my petrol SX4- for me, diesels are good for SUVs!)

Looking at both interiors and exteriors, This surely looks production ready now.
Why are we not getting this SX4 ? and that stupid thing called extra chrome in 2013 ?

This car looks promising , the center console does resemble New Punto s console. MSIL should launch it before Next Gen City and hopefully with a AT Diesel.

I just hope Maruti bring this one soon and retain the chome overload as the sedan version till they make a sedan out of the new SX4. They did not wait for upgrading Swift till the new Dzire was ready. I just hope they do the same here and launch the crossover at the earliest and take their time with the sedan version.

Indian market is mature enough for another pair from Maruti above the Swift/Dzire segment. With the right fit and finish and plastic quality, this could pose serious challenge to i20.
