The boot definitely looks to be quite spacious. If only we had another car to compare the dimensions with

aka Vaporware? Re: Suzuki unveils A-Wind Concept aka Celerio

Hype from the marketing team??
There must be a lot of marketing pundits from Microsoft and Atari working for Maruti now!!

I'd be glad to see this on Indian roads but given Maruti's conservative approach, highly unlikely.

And 40K to 50K over the manual?

Good buzz though, just before the auto expo. My congratulations to the marketing department.

Thats the A-Star. Crash-tested in July 2013. Only the color is similar. maruti wouldn't have been even done with their testing 6 months ago!

Fixed headrests at the front AND rear!

Why, oh why, does a cost-cutting measure on a couple of cars soon become an industry wide bad practice for all cars in the price range?

The Estilo and Wagon-R have adjustable headrests at the front and rear. The A-Star has adjustable ones at least at the rear. This is a step backwards for Maruti Suzuki. I hope it at least comes with 60:40 split rear seats.

Apart from this drawback, it looks like MSIL seem to have checked the other necessary things - Bluetooth music system (must be a first on a Maruti hatch) with steering mounted audio controls, dual front airbags, ABS, good looking interiors and a decent-sized boot.

The icing on the cake of course, would be the first-in-India AMT. I'm very eager to know how it functions in our conditions. I hope they also provide this transmission on the ZXi model!

Edit: It does look like single folding 60:40 rear split seats are present - that's a thumbs up!

Maruti Celerio likely to be cheapest automatic in India could start at < 4 lakhs and thus under cutting the Datsun Go!

Cheers!

Re: Suzuki unveils A-Wind Concept (aka Celerio), an all-new hatchback in Thailand

It just looks like an Alto800!!! Even the fuel lid is the same.

And those tyres are REALLY skinny! Alloys are boring while the sidewall height is also large. Good to see pull type handles. No insulation on the rear wheel wells.

I guess its been a long time since a manufacturer launched a car in golden color.

How come the ZXi doesn't have chrome on the rear lights?

- Quality level seems top notch (Cabin)
- ZXi, gets the audio and Bluetooth telephony controls on the steering wheel
- The gets height adjustable seats as well as front fog lamps and alloy wheels
- NVH impressive at idle
- Manual and AMT milelage claimed is same - 23.1 km/l
- AMT is smooth in highways, but a bit jerky in city roads
- Ride quality is good ( 14" wheels)
- Impressive stabilty at high speeds
- Maruti sets the trend in the AMT, a brilliant concept for small cars in India.

Re: Suzuki unveils A-Wind Concept (aka Celerio), an all-new hatchback in Thailand

Got a call from Pratham Motors Bangalore. They asked me to go ahead and make a booking for priority delivery. The cost of VXI on road would be under 5.5 lacs or they would refund whole booking amount.

Planning to book one tomorrow.

Re: Suzuki unveils A-Wind Concept (aka Celerio), an all-new hatchback in Thailand

Celerio will be launched in four trim levels – LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi Option

The Maruti Celerio LXi and Celerio VXi variants will get the option of the 5-speed manual Transmission OR the AMT.
Surprisingly, the Celerio ZXi and ZXi Option will be available only with the manual gearbox.

Maruti will indeed offer airbags on the car. The Celerio ZXi will get a driver airbag, while the Celerio ZXi Option will get dual front airbags. ABS will be offered on the ZXi Option as well.

Celerio will be offered in seven body colors. Features such as body colored door handles, wing mirrors with turn indicators and foglights will be seen only on the Celerio ZXi. The Celerio ZXi Option will also get alloy wheels.

Red, Sunshine Ray (Golden) , Silver, Black, Blue, Gray, and White are the offered colors!
