Looks like an over grown C class.

I don't particularly like the new Mercedes design language as all of them have started to look the same. Especially at the front.

As is the case with Audi too.

The similarities are made by almost all luxury car makers. The idea is perhaps to appeal to the lower bracket of buyers.

I think uniform design themes have always been the norm with the German trio, save for a few years of confusion from the late 90's to mid 00's. Easiest example will be to take a W124 E class and compare the C and S of that time.

Personally love this design language. Feels like it will age much better than the previous gen.

Looks great, definitely the interior to beat in this category now !
Im just worried about the price of the E ? If the current C costs almost 50 on road, i am guessing this will cost 65L on road. The S costs around 1.25L.
At 65L they may be able to justify the price as it looks and feels like an S at 60L less. If we look at the overall category it puts the E in a really funny position as the A6 can still be bought for 45 on road and people will wonder if a merc is worth another 20L ?

?? The new A6 matrix is about 60-62 lakh son road in Bbay? Don't think it goes for 45 lakh anywhere.

The A6 matrix edition is but a mid-life refresh of the 2011 A6 globally. The newer Audi A6 and the BMW 5 Series will have a similar pricing trend, when launched, although the Audi would always be available in a bare bones base model costing anything in the late 40's Ex showroom.

That being said, the increase in prices are justified as the old saying, rolex is a rolex and a merc is a merc ! The interior of the new eclass, when viewed being demonstrated live on youtube, is just amazing. I hope to see similar styled dash in the next GLE, GLS. (Not just the stupid front and rear lamp changes they have made in the new GLE, upcoming GLS).

I guess BMW too needs to now refresh their interiors further. The interiors have now started showing some age, purely due to similarity of models offered 3-5 years back.

The Audi's newer cabin in the Q7 is something that would influence the next Audi vehicles, as car update trends go these days.

This looks cool , present E series from rear was a disaster specially during day times - at night it was still Ok with those LED's , looks they have proportioned this quite nicely, anyone looking for something in this segment should start saving and pick the launch edition CBU one's . They should also try to tool Longer wheel version for Right Hand markets - there is a huge space between 50-60 Lac - E / A6 / 5 series and 1 Crore plus unless BMW comes out again with offers on their newer 7 series by mid of next year

This completes the family of C, E & S with a familiar look.

The new look is quite compact on the exterior but I somehow like the previous E Class look a bit more. It was a bit more grownup. That said it will surely look dated when the new one is out.

The Twin headlight light signature of the E-Class over the last 2 decades is done with.

Mercedes-Benz has released a sketch of the all-new E-Class ahead of its debut at the Detroit motor show this month. The German automaker had revealed detailed information and images of the interiors of the car in December 2015. Like the interior images, the new sketch (signed by Mercedes-Benz exterior design director - Robert Lesnik) points to the car's obvious connection with the S-Class and C-Class.
