re: Chris Evans replaces Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear. EDIT: Evans steps down!

Matt LeBlanc (of Friends fame) to be one of the presenters on Top Gear.

No idea, how this plays with Chris and Sabine also being presenters, in addition to Evans.

Well, we know he is quick. And we know he wont puke while going quick.
So we have Evans-> Captain slow(not by choice, i suppose), Sabine-> Hamster, LeBlanc-> Jennifer.
Chris harris -> a talking stig, maybe??

Wonder what the format would be like.

This is a nice coup. Joey Tribbiani is as universal as Simba from Lion King - and automatically brings 20% user ratings as a result, even before the show starts.

Looks like Chris Harris is part of the team along with Eddie Jordan.

Now I am really curious as to how they will fit so many people in the role of a host!
And it looks pretty promising. I was sold on Chris Harris alone and they even added Matt LeBlanc and a handful of other folks. Though I really wish they had poached Vicki Butler-Henderson from Fifth Gear for the female role. That woman is something!

!

My thoughts exactly, that is a lot of folks to fit into a 60 minute program.
Although each of these individuals has a certain automotive pedigree it still remains to be seen how they will do as presenters. Let's see, it will be interesting to watch

Same thought here. The first thing that comes to my mind with this 6+1 hosts is a fifth-gear like format!

Its funny they needed six people to replace three middle aged men. Shows how great jeremy ,richard & james were at their job I guess

I won't say they "needed" 6 folks to replace 3 blokes, but that they want to return back with a bang! TG was hugely successful in its older format and despite all this fracas situation, they would "want" to keep it all aside and continue with the same popularity and fan following.
After all, these 6 folks have their own fan bases and I for one would love seeing slo mo drifts Chris Harris style.

First thing to remember that TG will not be like it was with CLarkson. Keep an open mind and treat it as a totally new show. The only common items are the name and The Stig. I would not like to label things until we have seen one season.

Remember, it is the same script writer behind the scenes

re: Chris Evans replaces Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear. EDIT: Evans steps down!

This aint TG.
At least not the one we have literally grown up with. This is TG only on the program schedule. Top gear left with the blokes.

I have a feeling this will be complete rehash with ALL inputs the BBC ever received as complaints from people. Some reviews of run of the mill stuff, with Evans occasionally throwing in a car from his garage.
Until they can show returns, will the BBC throw as much money in production as they did with the others? Vicious circle, that is.

Oh boy... hope this does not turn out to be like the times now AG show where 8-10 people are yelling at you from the screen and you are not sure whether to gas yourself or smother the neighbor's cat...

re: Chris Evans replaces Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear. EDIT: Evans steps down!

IMHO after I saw the last season, I felt that the old blokes weren't upto it. I even commented here that I'd stop seeing it in fear of spoiling the memory of a great car show.

I think this would infact be a welcome change.

Let's see how they knit the roles together!

They have hired double the number of hosts! Will they take turns? Like one set of 3 would host one episode, and then other three next one.
Wont be watching this new series.

re: Chris Evans replaces Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear. EDIT: Evans steps down!

I, for one, would prefer to watch the new show Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are expected to come up with.

As for this one, it's more likely to be like Two and a Half Men after Ashton Kutcher replaced Charlie Sheen. At least, that's the best analogy I can think of at the moment.

All the best to the new presenters and those who wish to watch them, but this is my personal opinion and I suspect it is shared by many.

Perhaps BBC would've done well to come up with an entirely new show with a new name and format.
