If it's by mid next year or so, that would be good.
If they are planning to launch this new S-cross in India, It will take at least a year or more, possibly in 2023. Maybe they don't launch this new model because Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are developing a Compact SUV that could replace S-cross in 2023.

This looks like a heavily re-worked version of the S-Cross on the same existing platform (Global C?).

This is not a bad thing per se as Suzuki's "Heartect" platform is quite poor from a safety point of view.

As long as the new generation S-Cross is not on the Heartect platform and comes with decent transmission option (read - 1.5 petrol engine mated to a 6 speed AT) and safety features (6 airbags) then it should be a reasonable option for someone to consider.

2022 S-Cross UK review for the base model. S-Cross seems to have transformed itself into a proper Creta rival now. Of course, there is the SUV coming from the Suzuki-Toyota collaboration to compete with Creta but can't help think that this is now a very tempting product.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

There may be a reason why Suzuki has not gone for a generation change for Scross - the new Toyota-Suzuki C- segment car. Suzuki may not want to spend on 2 cars of the same segment at the same time. That new car from the alliance is also some 1 or 2 years away, I guess. That's the reason they are launching the current Vitara using Suzuki hybrid technology and test the waters. After 2 or 3 years of new Vitara launch, the next gen Scross may come. That means, minimum 3 years away.

But they made it sure that Scross is now a desirable product in their lineup in terms of looks. Also they didn't fall into the trap of common design language / brand face which many companies follow now making the cars with no character of their own. Suzuki is one rare company who gives special character to most of their cars - be it Swift, Jimny, Vitara or Ignis.

What is lacking for them is the willingness to grow to higher segments.

Suzuki S-Cross : Some highlights
Quote:
The 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine is a goodie and now comes with a mild hybrid system.
A full hybrid system is coming, and will be trying it out in the company’s Vitara at the end of February.

Quote:
Interior quality is a definite step up from the outgoing model, but you will find some hard plastics in places.
Quote:
Acceleration is brisk, without being startling, the engine pulling most strongly from 2,000 rpm or thereabouts. It gets rather rowdy should you explore the upper reaches of the rev range, but the torque is such that this is really not necessary.
Quote:
S-Cross’s ride comfort impressed, but the soft suspension combined with overly light steering to remove much of the fun from a spirited cross-country drive.
Quote:
In order to give the ALLGRIP all-wheel drive system a good work out, spent an enjoyable day in convoy from the Mud Life Magazine. Tackled some of the easier green lanes that criss-cross the Yorkshire Dales and I must say the S-Cross excelled.
Quote:
Traction was always excellent, and even some of the more challenging climbs were accomplished without drama. Only a lack of ground clearance prevented us from more hardcore activities.

The reassurance of ALLGRIP to the rural motorist cannot be underestimated, and our own Vitara thus equipped has coped admirably with snow, ice, and flooded roads.
Quote:
Despite the increase in price, the S-Cross offers good value for money compared to its multitude of rivals, especially in Motion form.

A typical Suzuki like Swift, Jimny, Ignis and Vitara. Indian XL6 is a kind of aberration from their end by overdoing the design.
