Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

Yes it’s a revised model but not so revised in the interiors. Rear doesn’t really go well with overall design. Front is really a welcome change!

Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

Without any offense meant to anyone who may like what Suzuki has done, personally I think Suzuki did a terrible job for a generation upgrade . The old car look much better than the new one (may be with the exception of black color wherein all the exterior design elements that Suzuki has implemented in the name of upgrade is nicely camouflaged). The rear is weird and the front is too busy without a definite character.

Apart from the somewhat dated look of the interior, I am glad that Suzuki is offering dual zone climate control in this car. Will have to see if Maruti brings this feature to India.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

New S Cross in Hungary:

- In the 6.09 million HUF( ~ INR 14 lakhs ) GL basic model(FWD), the infotainment display is 7 inches , manual air conditioning is available, gets emergency brake assist, the lane keeping system, the board recognition system and the reversing camera at basic prices.

- At GL+ level, you also get a 7- inch touch display, and the emergency brake assist, blind spot monitor, rear transverse traffic warning, and front-rear parking sensor are added to the runway GL+.

-The top is the aforementioned GLX, in which instead of fabric, the seats are covered with a mixture of real leather and faux leather, and for which you can even order a huge panoramic roof with motorized shading.

-The surcharge for metallic and pearl paintwork is HUF 170,000.

- The GLX high-end all-wheel, automatic transmission, panoramic roof and metal-light S-Cross, for which you have to pay 9.1 million HUF ( ~ INR 21 LAKHS)

In 2022:

A standard hybrid of the S-Cross will arrive, that is, a new version that can travel a few kilometers even purely electrically. Based on the expected 1.5-litre suction petrol engine, the new hybrid technology will first be incorporated into the Vitara and then available in the S-Cross. Suzuki's first 100 percent electric model will debut in 2025.

It looks good and can pull in good numbers with a good auto gearbox and a high NCAP score!

Why have upward sloping sides, it makes the looks meeker! The front and back look bolder compared to earlier model.

Don't worry, they will replace the important structural parts of the Euro version with electricity conduit pipes to bring the cost and weight down. And of-course, forget about the proper auto gearbox with peddle shifters, nobody buys them here.

The new S-cross and new Baleno have the exact same center AC vents, even the materials seem the same. Next-gen Brezza also comes with similar AC vent design.

More than anything else India needs 1.4L boosterjet engine from this XL5 to many of their >4m sized cars and UVs.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

With the upcoming (hopefully) 5 door Jimny and possible Creta sized crossover MSIL have a sound case for introducing the 1.4L turbo, coupled with their 6 speed CVT.
It also helps that this engine is being discontinued, as per reports, in Europe. The entire tooling can be shifted to India in that case.

But will MSIL take that leap of faith or continue to ply us with 1.2L engines only?? Only time will tell!

Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

Maruti missed the bus with regard to S-cross long back. They are lagging minimum three years when it comes to the marketing of premium offerings. Back when S-cross was initially launched, the looks were very dated. I believe a very few in this forum disagrees with me with that. What made people to consider the S-Cross was the built quality and 1.6 DDiS.
To get satisfactory momentum with the new avatar, a good safety-powertrain-pricing strategy has to be in place.
Even though the first generation was decently built, I have concerns over the present strategy of providing micrometer thick outer skin of Maruti, which I am finding hard time to live with in my Baleno.
Fingers crossed as I have a hunch that Maruti is losing its market share over the safety concerns and lack of market relevant products. They are keeping afloat due to the trust it had generated over these years, which in todays dynamic market may not be sufficient to sustain the business further.

Maruti Suzuki will have two options to choose from:

1. 1.4L Boosterjet in Manual and AT configuration ( Mild Hybrid)

OR

Coming to the upgraded Vitara and S Cross (April 2022)

2. 1.5 Dualjet Hybrid, as it is called, gets a 1.5 liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine with 75 kW / 102 hp, which has a maximum torque of 138 Newton meters from 4,400 rpm. It is supported by a maximum of 24 kW (33 PS) electric motor, the system output is 85 kW (115 PS) - FULL HYBRID

Mostly they will go the Full Hybrid way in their upcoming line-up of cars.

Too much Piano black on exterior in my opinion. The big front grill and strip on the back in that horrendous material which is dust magnet and pron to scratches. In our dusty conditions, it will get soil easily and will look horrible.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

Any idea when will this 2022 S-Cross be launched in India ?
If it's by mid next year or so, that would be good. But if it is delayed, then by the time it launches here,
the competition would have upped their deal, making this a dud on arrival. Hope they time it well.

BTW the new car does look good (I liked the older looks too).

Saw few interior pics and videos. Rear ac vents are given a miss in this new version. Perhaps the Indian version may get it when it arrives.
