Renault recalls over 60,000 Koleos SUVs in China.

Quote:
Renault recalled more than 60,000 Koleos sport-utility vehicles in China because of a faulty fuel sensor, according to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
The 61,508 affected imported cars are models from 2009 through 2012, the agency said. Renault will provide free replacement sensors for the vehicles, which may show faulty fuel-level readings and could pose a safety risk.
This latest recall for Renault comes after the agency said on Jan. 25 that the company would recall 5,097 Koleos vehicles in China because of a welding flaw.

Toyota settles recall cases with attorneys general in 29 U.S. states.

Toyota Motor North America has settled its outstanding cases with attorneys general in 29 states and one U.S. territory regarding allegations of foot-dragging in its safety recall process from 2005 to 2010.

This effectively closes the case as it pertains to states; no others have claims remaining against Toyota regarding recall actions. But private parties still can sue the company.

Toyota set aside $1.1 billion to cover recall-related suits by individuals and government entities. The $29 million settlement today will be paid from those funds.

Re: The Global *Recalls* Thread

Whoa! An immediate another recall from BMW :

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...ables/1924627/

This seems intended primarily for the US/Canada market.

Gist :

Quote:
BMW is recalling almost 570,000 cars in the U.S. and Canada because a battery cable connector can fail and cause the engines to stall.

The recall affects the popular 3-Series sedans, wagons, convertibles and coupes from the 2007 through 2011 model years. Also included are 1-Series coupes and convertibles from 2008 through 2012, and the Z4 sports car from 2009 through 2011.

Re: The Global *Recalls* Thread

Another small batch of Chrysler vehicles (consisting of Chrysler 200s & Dodge Avengers) are being recalled in US for stalling problem, because of the fuel-tank control valve on certain cars, which may have been broken upon installation leading to iquid fuel run into the canister & cause leaks & stalling from excess fuel entering the engine.

Add to this Rolls Royce is also recalling 27 cars (2013 Phantom models) in the US for missing fuel device. These devices prevent static electricity from traveling into the fuel tank, which could spark a fire.

MSN-US Report here:

http://editorial.autos.msn.com/blogs...5-cfc89d663d78

And... there are more troubles for Honda, Toyota & Ford, as the NHTSA is probing 1.37 million vehicles from these manufacturers defects which may lead to recalls.

According to this link, the reason for the recall is so that they can fix the exhaust 'finishers' that might fall off and cause problems for other motorists. Nowhere is it mentioned that the exhaust system would be prone to failure.

Re: The Global *Recalls* Thread

Subaru recalling 47,419 U.S. vehicles for remote starter issue.

If the remote starter key fob is dropped, it may start the engine without the ignition button on the fob being pressed, according to NHTSA documents. The engine may start and run for up to 15 minutes, and may continue to start and stop until the fob battery is depleted or until the vehicle runs out of gas.
If the vehicle is parked in an enclosed area, such as a garage, there is a risk of asphyxiation from a build-up of carbon monoxide.

The recall affects some Legacy and Outback cars from model years 2010 through 2013, Impreza sedans from 2012 and 2013, and XV Crosstrek crossover vehicles from 2013.

Ford recalls 230,000 minivans for corrosion issue Ford is recalling about 230,000 older minivans globally to fix a corrosion problem that could prevent the fold-down third-row seats from locking in place.

Cheers!

The problem was discovered by Hyundai more than year ago, is being treated as a ‘service campaign rather than a safety recall after the Department of Transport & Infrastructure (Australia) determined it was not safety related.
