Re: The 2014 F1 Season

There is also rumor about Maldo on his way to LotusF1 for 2014, you can probably edit the sheet if you created it.

Maldo to Lotus was mostly due to the uncertainty of the Lotus-Quantum deal and in case the deal didn't go through. Now that the deal is finalized, not sure if Maldo still has a chance. BTW, its marked in the image.

Since it is announced that Maldo won't be at Williams next year, those seats are ruled out.

Sauber would need one driver to score points when they go the paid driver route with Sirotkin; else there is no point in having the sponsorship money to continue car development. They might still keep Maldo as an option in case Sirotkin doesn't get the super license but its unlikely that they'll go with two paid drivers.

Force India might be a likely seat, since there are rumors about financial issues for the team and they are typically the last ones to confirm the lineup.

Massa has joined Williams for 2014 and will race alongside Bottas.

So Maldonado is out of there. Wonder if he will remain on the grid in 2014. Hulkenberg seems to be Lotus' first choice at the moment.

There are also rumours that Perez is not on top of McLaren's list for the 2nd seat in 2014.

Massa's seat confirmed and Kvyat getting super license - so 2 more teams finalized with their line ups.

So 6+3 unfilled seats remaining.

Lotus (1)
McLaren (1)
Sauber (2)
Force India (2)

Caterham (2)
Marussia (1)

Hulkenberg and Magnussen seems to be the favorites for Lotus and McLaren as per the rumor mill. Everything down to how the Kimi replacement performs in the last 2 races this year. Someone putting a good show could make them rethink.

2 seats available at McLaren..Jenson hasnt been confirmed yet.
Both are still discussing period of the new contract. Jenson wants to confirm for 2014 only, while Mclaren want him to stay on longer.

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

Glad to see Felipe getting the seat at Williams. They will be having the Mercedes engine next year.

Hope Williams can make it competitive next year. Hear Merc is the engine to have next season.

Autosport is reporting that McLaren have decided to replace Perez with rookie Magnussen for 2014 season. No official announcement yet.

Nice! Magnussen looks impressive.

Also, Guardian is reporting that McLaren Honda is trying to lure Alonso back in 2015.

They really need an experienced driver to help with the Honda transition. If Button doesn't want to stay beyond 2014, they need someone with experience to help them sort out issues through the 2015 season.

If Ferrari cannot deliver a good package for next season, Alonso might seriously consider a move. It'll be a decision that won't happen till mid next year for sure.

If Alonso makes a move earlier, it just means Alonso has given up his hope on 2014 Ferrari. Without knowing where the competition is, I don't think he would make that decision.

How these people comply with those technical regulations. Very complicated indeed.

Cheers!

I can't fathom why McL is so much attached to Jensen. Get rid of him !!
Magnussen's CV is impressive and he is their boy after all and is going to be with them for few years atleast. I would love to see Alonso in McL , Ron is not around and this move will re-energize the squad. Ross Brawn also please in the mix ....that's what Jim Carrey calls "Smokin...."

Re: The 2014 F1 Season

MW should have signed Hulk for 2013 and signing Checo was a stupid move, they had the weakest lineup for 2013 along with the car that didnt start the season on the right foot. Now they are experimenting again, but Magnuessen has a better track record than Checo. I have a feeling they are holding on to Button to bring Alonso for 2015, all depends on how the 2014 cars are for both Ferrari & Mclaren.

No, the tweet is more recent one after the Lotus-Quantum deal. Lotus will be making the announcement tomorrow, lets see.

EJ had mentioned about Hulk going to FI and he has been reliable recently.

I see the image has the arrow to Lotus for Maldo!

I agree 100%. I never understood what twitmarsh saw in Sergio. They went from having the strongest driver pairings to one of the weakest.
I look forward to seeing this Kevin in McLaren. First rookie in Macca since Hamilton if I'm right.

Now, As per rumours! Massa to Williams? He used to say if he didnt get a top drive he would prefer not racing at all. What happened to that? Does he really think Williams will be that good of a team next year due to the field reset? Hmmm...
Hulkster deserves that lotus drive and I hope he gets it. It's fine, Maldadodo can take his money and try his luck again, this time with Sauber next year : P.
Wonder what will FIs lineup be.

Also, Can't wait to see Bianchi in Ferrari seat if ALO isn't cleared for next race. Not to mention kimis replacement for the next two races.

Ironically, the 2014 Ferrari line up ends up as 2 drivers with back problems!

If Alonso is unfit to race in US and Brazil, Hamilton has an outside chance of #2 in WDC
